PM Property Lawyers (Donna Cutts' team) acted for my seller. When I say they are the biggest bunch of incompetent charlatans going, I'm being kind.
26 weeks after my offer was accepted, we finally completed on my purchase...only 3 days after the agreed completion date. Why the delay? Because they decided to raise more queries on the onward purchase the day before the agreed completion date. How did I find out? My seller's sales progressor for her purchase, because PMPL never bothered informing my solicitor.
I say we completed on 'my purchase' because I turned up to collect keys to find my seller very distressed, as PM Law had completed on my purchase but not the rest of the chain(!), leaving her with nowhere to go. Thankfully her seller/estate agent came to the rescue and allowed her to pick up keys prior to completion on that property.
I should add, this chain was unbelievably simple - me as the buyer (chain free), my seller, and the property my seller was buying (end of chain, already vacant). I dread to think how this firm would cope with a chain of more typical complexity.
It's been an absolute farce from start to finish. Never again will I participate in a chain where PM Property Lawyers (or PM Law because they are two arms of the same firm) is involved. Do yourself a favour and refuse to have them involved in so much as stapling a document.
