Buying and selling a home.

Acquired a buyer for my home, on the 5th of march we agreed to employ Samantha Worsman (Accociate) at ison Harrison Bingley. We had read her company description below
Samantha has extensive experience in residential property conveyancing.

She is an efficient and meticulous case handler who thrives under pressure. She is a highly motivated individual who always strives to make the whole of the conveyancing process as stress-free as possible.
When she is available she is going to chase it up, very poor at getting back to me.
I get information from our buyers estate agent and also our sellers estate agents as well as the building company, me passing on information to the office. Some weeks ago we were told Samantha was due to go on holiday the 9 July we assumed as it was some weeks away a moving date would be no problem, but no . She did say not to worry if a completion was not reached by then she would call me before her holiday 8th July but no , she’s not in. A lady at the end of the phone seems surprised at our call and says that she will chase it up. So not happy. Is this normal not to keep me in the loop ?

Avoid at all cost

Completely unprofessional, negligent and incompetent service (York branch). Simple transfer of equity case dragged for 3 months. After paying all the fees as per the engagement and completion letter they send me an email asking for additional £20 in order for them to submit the land registry documents ( bear in mind at this stage they already paid the other party!) Long story short, after they finally submitted the required documents to the land registry, £100 land registry penalty notice due to late tax return submission and no final response from the complaint manager I still await the updated deed from the land registry (I signed the engagement letter in May). Seriously if you value your time, money and mental health you would look for another solicitor. I regret not reading the reviews, before engaging with them, myself ( lack of response, documents with multiple spelling errors…they at least seem to be consistent in providing bad service!)

Terrible Service avoid at all costs

I am an Estate Agent who unfortunately referred a client to this company. During the conveyancing period, he had 3 different solicitors, and 2 left and it is easy to see why. The service was poor throughout with simply awful communication. When the sale was completed it took them 10 days to settle my account, they provided inaccurate information as to when they had sent the payment, and eventually accepted they had input the wrong account details, with no apology and a response from a director that I could not quite believe. One of the worst firm of solicitors I have encountered.

Property transaction

In 35 years and over 20 property transactions I can honestly say that in my opinion have never come across a firm of solicitors so useless and unhelpful. They say a fish rots from the head and this applies here from Jonathan Wearing, the managing partner who will not speak to you; Rachel Warsop who claims to specialise in property matters; and the conveyancing staff in the York office. As a purchaser our son working shifts in the NHS during Covid-19 asked Ison Harrison to deal with me on his behalf which they totally ignored. We were better informed by the vendors solicitors and in the end had to transfer to another firm who achieved in one month more than Ison Harrison managed in three. If ever you are recommended by an estate agent to use Ison Harrison ask what commission they are being paid. At least they managed to complete the searches which helped the new firm, but that is about all they achieved.

Thank you Olivia Williams

Cannot thank you enough Olivia for all your help in ensuring my house sale went through smoothly last week. In these very difficult times you managed the sale to ensure that this was achieved - you were extremely supportive throughout the process - thank you.

Family matters

I wasn't expecting Siobhan to be my solicitor but I'm so glad she got given my case. Siobhan and her team have been exceptional throughout! I could contact her by email, message or phone at any point and she would always respond. She knew what she was doing and was professional but at the same time so friendly and caring of the situation. From the minute I rang these solicitors they did absolutely everything they could with no delays, my situation was urgent. I know that if anything arises from my case in the future I can get in touch with Siobhan and she will be there to help and support me again. I couldn't be more happy or thankful for everything.

A client

We were very impressed with the conveyancing service provided by Ison Harrison, Micklegate and in particular by Nick.

From day one Nick was the perfect blend of knowledge, efficiency and approachability and his communication throughout the process was second to none. Having been out of the property market for more than 30 years, Nick made what felt like a daunting prospect as easy as possible, giving the guidance we needed every step of the way.

Indeed, as a whole in our experience, whenever we rang or called in the team were welcoming, responsive and keen to help.

Today, Friday the 5th January 2024, my wife and I visited Ison Harrison (York), to finalise details involving new Wills, and Land registry. Olivia Williams, branch manager, and partner, was first class, very professional and exceptionally knowledgeable. Olivia has a lovely personality and nice approach to her clients. Obviously visiting a solicitor at anytime, can be an ordeal for many. Even for my Japanese wife of 26 years, who in Japan, was used to interviewing top solicitors in business bankruptcy cases.
Olivia, made us both feel relaxed, and comfortable, explaining in detail the different options, on offer. At no time did we feel uneasy, or pressurised. We were given very good advice, and plenty of time to make our decision.

Having worked for BT for almost forty seven years, I fully understand how important customer relationship, and good service is.
Olivia is thorough in what she does, and is a credit to Ison Harrison solicitors. Anyone choosing Ison Harrison would certainly not be disappointed.

About this branch

Description

We’ve all got a story of where we have come from, who we are and what makes us tick. This is ours. Over the past 45 years the firm has grown from a one man band to what is now a large regional law firm employing over 330 staff across 20 offices throughout Yorkshire. We offer the broadest suite of legal services in the region and are very much embedded in the communities in which we have offices. Whilst some of the growth has been facilitated through acquiring other smaller firms, most has been organic as a consequence of clients recommending us or returning for additional services. As you can see the firm has enjoyed substantial growth over the past decade. We have always taken the view that standing still as a business is not an option for us. We have seen many law firms either go out of business or reduce in size over the years and we were determined not to struggle in the same way. We have therefore constantly looked to improve. We have looked for opportunities to grow our profile, the number of our offices, and the breadth of services that we offer. We have looked for ways to improve our internal processes, employee engagement and how we deal and communicate with clients. All partners and managers recognise the importance of communication and set the tone within the firm employing honest, open and prompt communication with clients and colleagues alike.
