Expensive, low priority. Would look harder for a solicitor next time

Taylor Rose helped my wife and I with buying and selling our house. They came recommended by our estate agents and we went with it rather than do the search for a solicitor ourselves.

They got the job done and by and large often did the work when asked within a good time frame. They were genuinely better than the solicitors of the vendors selling their house to us who were horrifically slow throughout the process.

However, throughout the whole process we had felt like we were a low priority, lost in the middle of their to do pile. This was emphasized by a few factors.
1. A few weeks into engaging them as our solicitor, we called them and the manager assigned to us on their portal had absolutely no idea who we were, sounded surprised that we called and was asking for her.
2. Nothing got done unless we called. We would go for weeks not hearing anything from them. Eventually, we would call and miraculously we would get some e-mails and progress was made. I personally really despise having to call your office to have to get anything happening.
3. The manager responsible rarely ever took our calls. Maybe once or twice we got put through.
4. The timescale between exchange and Completion resulted in an extra charge for 'priority' privileges. Who knew, the whole time we genuinely were only quoted for the slow lane. You have to pay a premium for priority. A priority for this firm as quoted on their invoice is acting within 10 days. 10 DAYS! Providing the service you have engaged them to do within 2 working weeks for this firm is a problem to charge more for. If only this was mentioned at the beginning.

If we were to start the process again, would we go with Taylor Rose. Absolutely not. We would search harder. There is no doubt in our mind that there are enough solicitors out there to find one that would provide a better service at a lower price.

Helpful service

Sylvia at Taylor Rose acted for us when we were buying our first flat earlier this year. She was very helpful in guiding us through the process, answering any questions we had. The purchase was relatively straightforward and she was a large part in that. However, it wasn't perfect - there were some basic errors in the documentation we got from Taylor Rose (eg a report referring to a first floor apartment with a parking space, neither of which is true for our property). And we would have appreciated more legal advice, about specific clauses, as well as the very helpful process advice. Broadly, though, the process went smoothly.

DO NOT USE FOR CONVEYANCING

Please do not use this company when you buy a property. They are totally unresponsive and a purchase which should have taken a few months has been going on for over 6 and is still not complete! Compliance was signed off and then wasn't and weeks go by with little or no activity. Hugely unprofessional and draining of everyone's time and energy. AVOID like the plague!

Frankly terrible service.

Frankly terrible service.

Have used them for over 7 years, since they were MW Solicitors, not sure if it’s because they’ve been taken over by Taylor Rose, but my super simple matter has now stretched on for over 3 years, when neighbours who are going through the exact same situation have concluded their matter within months.

The solicitor, Raam Kanbi, promised weekly updates, but I have not had a single email or call from him since November 2023. It is now nearly September 2024. I’ve chased and left several messages and emails to receive nothing.

Frankly fed up. Do not recommend.

Their consultant solicitor Alisdair Muir who for some reason, seems to be responding on behalf of his absent colleague, Raam, has also been trying to fob me off basically refusing to progress my matter since I have lodged a complaint - when their client care team has specifically stated to me that a complaint will not stall or delay my matter.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Particularly if you are assigned a consultant solicitor - the whole set up is a farcical and not conducive to actual work being done in your matters.

Dedicated and professional

Jade helped me sell my house. I am an estate agent and landlord, so have dealt with hundreds of solicitors and can honestly say that Jade was fantastic. She always got back to me when I needed an update, even when she was mourning at a funeral. I couldn’t have expected somebody to be so committed to their job and am very grateful for her hard work. Thank you Jade.

worst solicitor

The worst solicitor conveyancing experience ever. Taylor rose use franchise type set up and their case handlers Hassan Khan and Chirag Chopra were the most unprofessional and incompetent team that delayed the process, continuous away on leave, never communicated well with each other or the client. Costing me more than 9 months to do a job that would take normally 4-5 months and with these delays, empty property until completion cost me over £10,000 in losses. I would never recommend the two and who are a black mark to the brand Taylor Rose.

Outstanding

I found myself in a difficult situation and I was in need of advice, guidance, reassurance and support, this was all provided from the first phone contact, through court hearings and to the final email. All correspondence was in a manner that I could understand, that was clear and factual. I was not given false promises or misled on any account. All communication was efficient being in direct communication with my solicitor was prompt with her professional manner and legal knowledge made the situation easier to deal with. She was respectful of my wishes and a pleasure to work with

We were so pleased with these solicitors. They listened in our time of need and helped us ensure that there was accountability for our loved one, when the worst happened. They were caring and sensitive and represented us well. They responded to our emails promptly and kept in touch appropriately. I would definitely recommend them. Thank you

The whole company's attention to detail is the reason why they need to work on your case. The family and child law division supported me beyond the professional. They advised and guided more broadly, as well as being very diligent and thorough on all the small details, that really mattered. As a result I got the result I believe I deserved.

Could not recommend the company enough.
