I was particularly impressed by the team's communications - all queries were responded to very quickly. Sweeney Miller did my conveyancing for first home purchase a couple months back. They were recommended by my lender from their conveyancing panel.
From my experience I would say they are okay but I wouldn't recommend them to family/friends.
It started off well, the conveyancing assistant and solicitor I was initially assigned were very proactive and responsive and then due to staff being on holiday with it being the summer they assigned my file to another pair and this is where I feel as if the process started to go downhill.
Often I would send emails with multiple queries in and would get a response that answers half the things I asked.
On one occasion one of my emails was not responded to for over a week which had a knock on effect on the time of month when I had completed, I ended up paying a high first bill on my mortgage due to money being released to the sellers solicitors a couple weeks before completing, I was not made aware of the consequences/size of this first bill by the team when they asked If I am happy to complete at said date. (Despite me asking if they could give some clarity on how completing at a certain time of month would effect my first bill !)
Prior to this the searches done on the property were over a month later than forecasted times, but to this they responded they can't do anything about as its a third party company.
They did also make mistakes on the paperwork, minor errors which I pointed out and had ammended.
A big error they made was on my completion statement where they attempeted to charge me nearly £300 more than they were supposed to. Again I caught this error and had them ammend it. They conveniently 'forgot' my file was direct from the lender.
It is also worth noting they made me pay an admin fee of £60 for a £10 indemnity insurance policy which I thought was very cheeky.
End of the day they got the job done and I am grateful for that, I am sure I may have just been assigned not the best people for the task as I do genuinely believe my intial two solicitors would've been much better. But upon reflection I feel it is best I put my experience on here so people can avoid a chance of going through the same.
