The practice was originally formed in 1988 and was known as Michael Stephenson & Co. A subsequent partnership with Mark Fairweather from Leiston gave rise to the firm of Fairweather Stephenson & Co which the current Managing Director, Patrick Cooney, joined in 1995. The practice has operated from its premises in Hamilton Road, Felixstowe for many years and continues to increase its client base under the new name of Fairstep Solicitors. Lee was great at keeping us up to date with what was happening with our house purchase especially in the later half of the process, unfortunately the sellers solicitors were not as efficient but Lee kept chasing for us to eventually get the responses and complete our sale. Thanks to Lee and to Aiden too who assisted in Lee’s absence.

Overall I was happy with the service I received however I was disappointed that nearing completion the final redemption figure for my help to buy loan was less than I had intended to pay and as discussed throughout. I would have preferred to clear a larger chunk of my debt interest free.

I can bet that you will never be put through to your solicitor if you call their general line. They will always say ‘ they are in a meeting and will call you back’ absolute rubbish. My case is finished and I completed on the house. But the service here is extremely poor. Would never use again and would never recommend again. Have to say though when Aiden took over my case he was a lot better, helpful, understand and ver professional. So unless you get Aiden on your case. Don’t work with this firm.

Quality of their service was satisfactory and adequate. However, when staff are on leave or on their non-working day there seems to drop off in communications and trying to receive information and/or get answers is very challenging. Often I would chase other staff members and/or the reception and make no progress. I would have to wait until the employee returned to work which slowed down the process and at times became stressful.
