As members of the family had used Williamson's solicitors before, I was happy to use them in both the sale of my house in Hampshire and the purchase of a bungalow in Bridlington.
I originally opted for a solicitor in Bridlington so I could directly speak to him, hand in documents and keep it local. However, Richard then worked from the Driffield branch, I wasn't given the option to change solicitors so I still haven't met him.
I felt the solicitor was friendly but I was very infuriated the number of times the same question was asked by the buyers solicitor, so Richard asked me again when I had already replied to him. Obviously, all this 'to and fro' with questions took time.
I also found it very disappointing to discover I had been charged, through no fault of my own, an extra £500 for the paperwork that had been sent to buyers, who unfortunately pulled out. This happened 3 times. The paperwork was obviously sent far too early as one purchaser had only been the prospective buyer for a week so I feel the company was too eager to send out paperwork.
Regarding the purchase, I distinctly stated, I wanted to sell one property and have the money in my account before buying the second property. This did not happen and caused a lot of unnecessary anguish for myself.
All in all, I was very upset with both processes and will not be using this 'professional' service again.
