Smooth and successful conveyancing experience

Both Helen Knowles herself and the colleagues to whom some of the work was delegated were founts of wisdom and sources of comfort through what might otherwise have been an unnerving process! She dealt very calmly and efficiently with the pressure that crept in as the finishing line came into view. Although the absence from the Updates and Documents sections of my online account of much that I was sent by other means (by email or through the post) could be thought to constitute a small shortcoming - not individual but corporate - in respect of communication, all else about the service we received was everything for which we could have asked.

Farm House

Helen was helpful with our purchasing of a Farm. We also found Meg to be extremely able and helpful and Richard assisted when Helen was absent as we had a time constraint so he helped move things along. Overall it was a great experience and we achieved our target of completion before the budget, thus saving a very large amount of money! Thank you everyone for helping make that happen. This was a much more complicated conveyencing than previously - as Helen has done two other houses for us, but the farm land made this more difficult for us to understand and yet Helen was able to help as was Meg with any questions I had.

Amazing

I was very nervous and anxious as it was my first time visiting a solicitor but as soon as I sat down with Joanna she made me feel at ease and very comfortable. I feel she listened to me and has my best interests at heart and provided an amazing service. I feel I’m in safe hands.

"Longacre" conveyancing

I cannot praise Helen Knowles and her team enough for their sympathetic, friendly and highly professional handling of the sale of my late mothers property. Despite a difficult easement, a rogue purchaser and a less than efficient estate agent the sale was completed with sympathy, great suggestions and a proactive attitude which impressed me unmeasurably. Superb!

I must point out that my complaint is not with Boys and Maughan, however, my grievance is with Gardner Croft, who amalgamated with them on 2nd May 2023.

I had previously made a complaint in 2019 after they had acted for me in a house purchase, which I had to take to the Legal Ombudsman, who concluded that their service had fallen short of a reasonable standard, however, it still cost me £3000.

After selling the house I found that I needed to make another complaint, so, on 23/12/2022 I emailed them and on 03/01/2023 I received a reply, which contained an attachment of their Client Complaint Procedures which contained the following:

Written complaints will be acknowledged in within 7 days of receipt whereby the name of the person responsible for handling the complaint will be confirmed. A full reply will be sent as soon as the matter has been investigated and our proposals for dealing with your concerns have been agreed upon. In any case, we will always endeavour to provide a full response within 28 days. If that is not possible, an interim response will be given explaining why it is not possible to meet this deadline, when we expect our investigations to be completed and a response finalised. You should allow us up to eight weeks to resolve your complaint. If after eight weeks we have not dealt with your complaint to your satisfaction, you can involve the Legal Ombudsman.

When I did not get an answer or an interim response after 8 weeks I took the matter to the Legal Ombudsman, it was only after they were involved that I received a reply on 10/07/2023.

During the period from making my complaint to actually getting a reply, the firm had amalgamated and email addresses changed, without informing me.

My experiences with this firm has not only left me considerably out of pocket, but has also been extremely stressful and time consuming. My advise to anyone is avoid them at your peril!!!
