Total Support

I cannot praise Mezzle law highly enough not only our lawyer Rebecca, but her whole team including Atlanta and Laura. I was kept up to speed every step of they way. Any question I raised was answered in full in minutes and nothing was too much trouble including completing our sale and purchase in less than seven weeks. If you're considering using Mezzle you won't be disappointed, they're a team who won't let you down.

No refund of mother's money

Like the previous reviewer we were with Gotelee. Our mother had her power of attorney done by Laura Parker and when 6 months later our mother died we stayed with Laura to do the grant of probate, and Christina Mulhearn doing the conveyancing on a property my mother owned. After mezzle took over the conveyancing we had to change our solicitors because mezzle never answered their questions and the buyers solicitors refused to deal with them so we nearly lost the sale. There was money, (nearly £12,000) left in the clients account to pay for outstanding bills and where any rebates were paid in to.
In November, Mezzle took over Gotelee, and we were told a solicitor named Alex Shah was taking mums case over, and after the money from the sale came through he would be settling mums accounts and dividing the money between my brother and me.
After a couple of months and no news we decided to contact Mezzle only to find out that Alex Shah had left!! In our mother's file was her will, my stepfathers will, grant of probate and the deeds of the property we were selling. We made several calls but decided the best way to deal with this was to visit the Ipswich office personally, without an appointment. We met a girl called Freya, who admitted that the take over hadn't gone as smoothly as they'd hoped! We were told that the wills were with Rightlegal, and I could ring them to get the wills back, and she would retrieve the file and get the rest of the paperwork sent to us. Great we thought!
I rand Rightlegal that afternoon and they have never had mums will, so couldn't send it out. Mezzle have now admitted that the file with the wills and grant of probate have been 'mislaid'.
I was given Tim Humpage's name and number by the SRA. I spoke to him and he said that our treatment had been appalling and he would get back to me later that week. No that never happened.
After numerous calls emails and texts, all unanswered, I was getting desperate because no one seems to take this seriously. My brother then rang Tim Humpage and got through ( different number from me). He promised that the money in my account by Friday 26/3/25. My brother also told Mr Humpage that we have 2 unpaid tax bills, both sent to Gotelee, but obviously ignored by Mezzle, and we have unpaid fines on them, he was told that as pensioners we do not have the funds to pay them, because Mezzle is sitting on £12,000 of our mothers money.
Of course now our numbers are registered with them neither of us get an answer.
I must ring etc at least 3 times a week, including head office, and never get an answer.

My question is when you have a complaint about the compliance officer who do you complain to? I really think this firm is not what it seems and that it takes your money, uses it, but will not pay you your own money back. You only use solicitors when you need legal help, as in the death of a loved one, so you are in an emotional state and they just use this against you, at your most vulnerable time.
This could be finalised so easily but they have made me go to the ombudsman.

Do not use this company!

If I could leave zero stars I would. Appalling

Used Donna Marie Sturrock to conveyance in property purchase. Slow, didn’t reply to emails, couldn’t be contacted, didn’t return phone calls, missed deadlines. Then when complaining to compliance officer, Tim Humpage, same happened, didn’t respond to emails, didn’t call back, no after 8 weeks of frustration I’ve complained to the SRA and legal ombudsman. Awful firm, do not use

Diabolical service

My brother her first rang Mezzle on their main number (+44 (0) 333 366 1418) at the end of January; no answer. No answer from a large law firm.

He rang a bit later and was answered by a woman who sounded as if she'd been rudely interrupted from her television programme to answer the phone; 'Hello' she said. He said 'Hello, is this Mezzle?'. She replied that nobody was available and would ask somebody to ring me back.

This is a company that boasts offices/desks/presence in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Dubai an Abu Dhabi, with their 'Meet the team' web page stating 'Guided by principle', listing 3 exec level lawyers and 35 other lawyers.

A couple of days later, a solicitor (named on their web site), rang him apologising for the delayed reply and asked what the nature of my call was. He explained that our mother had passed away mid-January and that (according to a copy of the Will) my brother and I were named executors, as well as a local solicitors called Gotelee & Goldsmith. However, these local solicitors which the family had used for many years for various services, had been taken over by Mezzle, hence the call.

This solicitor was sympathetic to our situation and explained that his firm could provide a probate service (at an extortionate hourly rate); the conversation was about 10 minutes long. He thanked him and said that we would get back to him after we had discussed as a family.

He passed on the details of this conversation to me and she said she would be happy to undertake the process. He mailed the solicitor back and informed of our intention. He was fine about it and said that he'd get the documents sent to me; this was about 5th February.

The Form of Authority (required by RightLegal who hold our mother's Will) requires a few details filling in, a signature date etc., plus submitted with 2 pieces of _certified_ ID; proof of ID and proof of address. These can be certified by the Post Office (which my brother and I did) or by a solicitor, funnily enough. That is all. Simple and straightforward enough documentation that any solicitor would be familiar with; a common practice.

We have lost count of how many times we have been promised this documentation and have all the related emails to prove so. Responsibility for completing the documentation and returning to us was originally promised by one solicitor, but then passed to someone else within Mezzle: the forms promised and not sent on several occasions; the form sent unsigned; the proof of address sent uncertified and not within the stipulated 3 months. The details of how of how to complete the form of authority and what proof of ID is explained clearly in the information sheet attached to the form.

At one point, we were so fed up and frustrated with dealing with this company that we followed their complaints procedure according to their web page. The matter was then handled by somebody else, but not before a secretary emailed me back scolding me for sending the email to so many people! ; this was on 12th March.
"Please can I ask that you do not send round robin chasing emails to different recipients who are very busy, when you were aware the matter was in hand."
...and then...
"...please do not send round robin emails when it is not warranted and particularly when copying in outside parties."
This was because we copied in RightLegal (the Will holders) since we wanted to apply some pressure to prompt them into action and share with them the situation we were experiencing.

It is now 11th April and we still do not have these forms in order to release our mother's Will.
DO NOT use this company. They are just an amateurish outfit, at best, behind the facade of a fancy web site.

I am reluctantly writing this review because on Monday 7th April (a few days ago) my brother stated that we were fed up with the excuses and apathy and requested that they now fill in a PA15 form; this a form of renunciation; to give up the right of executorship. We wish we had sought a renunciation at the outset. It is distressing enough losing a loved one but to be treated with disdain by a 'law firm' and apathy beggars belief.

We will also be reporting this outfit to The Law Society (https://www.lawsociety.org.uk/public/for-public-visitors/using-a-solicitor/complain-about-a-solicitor) and the Solicitors Regulation Authority (https://www.sra.org.uk/consumers/problems/).

We've had the pleasure of working with Mezzle across a couple of different projects including a rewrite of our (complex!!) business terms.

Our solicitor, Damion, has been an absolute lifesaver—his assistance has been invaluable in navigating tricky and often highly complex contract and commercial scenarios with our clients. Damion is incredibly knowledgeable, thorough, and always patient in answering my many questions.

His ability to explain complicated legal concepts in a way that’s clear and approachable has made a daunting task feel manageable. He is also impressively responsive, consistently delivering timely and thoughtful guidance whenever I’ve reached out.

If you’re looking for a legal partner who is not only highly skilled but also responsive, professional, and genuinely invested in your success, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Damion and Mezzle.

Her approach is no nonsense. This firm is the future of conveyancing where ALL are partners meaning it is in their best interest to complete as fast as possible so they get paid.
