Excellent service but cost 70% more than initial quotation
I was quoted £300 to complete my will, which was already higher than ALL local solicitors. VAT was not mentioned. Eventual bill was £504.
Solicitor Mr Jai Kalidas was not prepared for our initial Skype meeting because he failed to clear with the IT department that the software could be used.
He paid a visit to my home a few days later and spent a considerable time going over my affairs in meticulous detail, he paid a follow up visit a few weeks later, registered my will and sent the completed will to me. He offered to register the will and AGAIN VAT was not quoted. When you are dealing with the public, VAT is ALWAYS included. This feels like a conscious ploy to nickel and dime us.
However, Mr Kalidas' was a delightful visitor. He was incredibly solicitous and paid great attention to what I said, offering invaluable advice about how to head off potential legal challenges. The amount of work he did for the money was much greater than the cost, and had they managed my expectations properly in terms of cost, I'd have nothing but praise.
I would use Palmers again, but will carefully check future quotations for VAT and extras.
