Raja Afzal was the solicitor appointed to the case which was a complex fraud case where my sister-in-law had been “duped” to say the least by the principal offender. The case was complex as it stemmed over a number of years with many victims falling for the scam. My sister-in-law was an innocent person getting work experience from the principal offender not knowing what he was doing and merely passing on messages to and from his clients.
She was arrested, interviewed and later indicted for conspiracy to defraud. She was absolutely devastated to say the least. She had never been in trouble with the police and was totally innocent. However, the police had built a case against her.
We went to Ashman’s solicitors to represent her and the response was amazing, very professional and reassuring to my sister-in-law.
They took the case and prepared a very substantial defence for her, to the extent that the crown (prosecution) discontinued the case against her at the PDH.
Otherwise, she could have been waiting for 18 months or more for a trial date with the “Sword of Damocles” hanging over her head. The prompt discontinuance has helped her immensely to get her life back together again.
I write this review on behalf of her, having over 40 years of experience in law enforcement and now a retired seasoned senior detective I have come across numerous defence solicitors during my time. But found the Ashman’s are a truly professional company with really good knowledgeable, friendly solicitors that get on with it and put up a very strong defence case they have a very friendly approach and have direct contact with the client. (I used to ring Raja directly rather than his office/staff and speak with him).

I want to say a massive thank you to Mr Raja Atif Afzal from Ashmans Solicitors. I come from a respected family and my life was turned upside down when I was falsely accused of serious criminal charges. The whole process lasted approximately 6 years before I was finally found Not Guilty. Mr Afzal was relentless in his pursuit to help me prove my innocence. He worked tirelessly and continually inspired me with confidence and gave me the courage to keep fighting. His knowledge and expertise were always to the point and reassuring.
I don’t have words to express my true feelings ..I just to want say a big thank you to Mr Afzal for what he has done for me, it was a remarkable job. I would say he is the best solicitor in the UK!

Throughout the whole process, from the first call I made with Raja to the conclusion of the case, he was there to provide expert advice and reassurance at every event. Of what you can imagine a very stressful period, Raja worked incredibly hard in achieving the best possible outcome for this case. Spotting errors and leaving no stone unturned. At all times we received honesty, openness, reassurance and no question unanswered. Raja Afzal a true gentleman, asset and star of the company. And..an absolute legend!

I spoke to several firms before discovering Ashmans, but none felt quite right. However, upon speaking with Mr. Ali, I was confident I had found the right team. I engaged him for a fraud case I unfortunately found myself in. Working with him was a pleasure—Well prepared, knowledgeable, transparent, and straight to the point. I was in a situation where I had to decide whether I needed a solicitor or not.It was not complusory. I contacted Ashman Solicitors 3 days before my case, this got assigned to Raja Afzal. He was very approachable, listened to everything I had to say. He explained the system, the situation and cleared any doubts in my head. I have never had any problems with the law in the past and when in June 2020 I found myself in a very difficult life situation it all seemed too much to bear. I contacted several criminal law solicitors and explained my circumstances. However, after speaking to them I still didn’t feel comfortable to trust them with my case. I decided to have another look and found Ashmans Solicitors on Google. I was contacted by Mr Raja Afzal who listened carefully to my story and immediately suggested the plan of action. Throughout the whole experience Raja was very attentive and reassuring. I could easily get in touch with him and he always had time for me. After the first hearing ,thanks to Raja’s expertise, one of the charges was dropped and after the second one I managed to avoid the custodial sentence. I am trying to rebuild my life now and I can’t thank Raja and all his colleagues enough for their support and hard work. I hope I never find myself in a similar situation again but I will definitely recommend Raja Afzal and his team to anyone who finds himself in a situation similar to mine.
