Poorly managed conveyancing and dismissive escalation handling
This review is for a different branch.
I instructed Ellis-Fermor & Negus for a commercial conveyancing transaction and was extremely disappointed with the quality of service provided. Despite raising multiple issues regarding errors, delays, and poor communication during the process, I was frequently left to chase for updates, track outstanding actions, and in some cases, even asked to summarise key items myself in a spreadsheet — which felt inappropriate for a professional legal service.
The solicitor handling my case was reactive and lacked experience, resulting in repeated inaccuracies, missed issues, and avoidable back-and-forth. This created significant personal stress during what should have been a well-guided legal process.
When I escalated these concerns to a Head of Department, my dissatisfaction was brushed aside, and I was told that they were at capacity and could not take on new clients. This response felt dismissive and seemed more focused on ending the engagement than addressing legitimate client concerns.
Given the fees charged and the quality of service received, I would not recommend this firm and hope they reflect seriously on their internal supervision and client care standards.
