Avoid them at all costs!!!!!

Would give zero stars if possible. As others have said they don’t answer emails, phone calls and no call back if you request one. Have been asking for an amended contract for my purchase for 10 WEEKS and confirmation they have some documents I sent them and still have not received an answer. I have made an official complaint and was assured it would be looked into and someone would call to ‘reassure me’. Nothing. No communication at all. Service not improved and I’m very concerned that I will lose my purchase property. They are also acting for my buyer, so not sure how that will go. Sending emails practically every day now and still no answers. Given up phoning. Causing untold stress - not sleeping and worrying all the time. If they are so busy they don’t have time to communicate or do the work they should not take it on. So much for their statement ‘our clients are at the heart of everything we do’.
Avoid these people at all costs!!!!!! Don’t know how they are allowed to practice.
I know they won’t, but it would be good if someone would actually call ME to discuss this as I have contacted their ‘named’ conveyancing/complaint managers with no joy apart from ‘we’ll investigate’.
Avoid this firm at all costs.
I will be taking this to the ombudsman if it is not resolved satisfactorily and the service improves

Avoid at All Costs – Incompetent and Unprofessional

Dealing with Gilson Gray in Lincoln has been a complete nightmare. Their lack of competence and professionalism is shocking. Communication is practically nonexistent – emails and calls are blatantly ignored for weeks, leaving you with no idea what’s happening. They clearly have no regard for their clients or the importance of timely updates.

The delays I’ve experienced are absolutely unacceptable, and it’s clear they’re either incapable or unwilling to do their job properly. As a first-time buyer, I expected guidance and efficiency, but instead, I got incompetence, indifference, and a total lack of accountability.

Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this firm. They will was-te yur time, cause you endless frustration, and leave you regretting ever choosing them.

DO NOT USE THEM

I have never come across a worse bunch! Constantly chasing them by phone and email. No one rings you back. They make an already stressfull situation ten times worse. How on earth they got this many stars I will leave you to imagine. I have complained to every level within the organisation and no one is bothered. Ten days to go and their final invoices wrong on three occasions. I'm writing to the law society about them, they should be stopped from trading.

Shockingly Bad

I cannot express in words how bad this company is. They are just not accountable for anything. To talk to anyone is completely impossible even today it took over 18 minutes for someone to even pick up the phone only to be told that the person dealing with my sale & purchase is busy and will call me back, in which as normal will not! You can get through to a voicemail on the direct dial number but once again they will not call you back. It is the same with email, they will just not respond.
I was originally recommended to use this company via my estate agent (W H Brown) however from day 1 it has been a series of incompetence, delays, non communication & rudeness. I genuinely cannot express how bad they are.

awful service

5 Different people contacted me in the first couple of weeks. Some of them told me they would be looking after my house-buying. Finally, I got one who stayed for a while but did not respond quickly. I sent emails with questions and received an email saying she would respond in 48 hours, the quickest was 9 days. I tried ringing to find her answer machine full so I couldn't even leave a message. I rang the main number and they couldn't even get hold of her. I paid for searches to be carried out on the 8th of July but was told in September the searches hadn't been requested. I was finally given a complete exchange date and I was told the morning of completion I needed to pay over £200 to the solicitor. I had paid the bill 1 week previous. I still have had no receipt for the extra money and I still have no clue what it was for.
Very poor communication.
I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Avoid!! Do not use this company

It has been one of the most frustrating experience due continued lack of communication from my conveyancer, Afsha Kanwal. Despite numerous attempts over the past month—including phone calls, voicemails, and several emails—I have yet to receive a single response or update.

It has now been over three months since the application process began, and during this time, Afsha has not responded to any of my communications. This level of unresponsiveness is highly concerning and falls far short of any reasonable standard of customer service.

Furthermore, the seller is becoming increasingly frustrated, and their solicitor has also been unable to obtain any updates, putting the entire transaction at risk. This situation has caused me considerable stress, and I am deeply worried about the potential loss of this property due to the ongoing lack of communication.

Unresponsive & poor overall service

Our experience with Gilson gray has been poor from the beginning. We chose to use Gilson gray when our offer was accepted on a house back in June.
They was recommended by our local estate agents. We have found them to be unresponsive to enquiries for weeks. We are constantly being contacted by our buyers estate agents as they cannot get through or speak to anyone handling our conveyancing. Our first solicitor was unreachable for weeks only to find out she had left the company and nobody let us know. Weeks later we finally got assigned a new solicitor. We are now having the same issues yet again.
We are so close to completion and now all correspondence have yet again ceased! When we call the head office we are promised a call back from someone dealing with our conveyancing but nobody ever responds.
We are extremely unhappy with our choice of solicitors. We are about to lose our buyer as they have lost confidence that they will ever get a moving date.
We expect better service considering the cost of moving.
Extremely unprofessional company! This is still ongoing so maybe this will spark some urgency! Who knows. Guessing the fact they don’t read their emails I can’t imagine they will read this!

I would not recommend this firm, i am purchasing my first property as a first time buyer, its almost been six months and still yet to complete , regardless of it taking a long time the communication is shocking, i have one handler, then they are on holiday, then i have another looking after me, they promise the world then when you follow up, they have left the firm altogether. i emailed cherie as per the complaint info online about my concerns, been three days no reply, phone is not answered or you hold for a very long time, direct numbers to handlers are never answered. emails are not answered, you just get an auto reply. Then when you do get a reply your email is not acknowledged and its an email that you cant makes sense of and sort of the same update you had on the last email. Its just so bad, i wish i had read the other reviews before i listened to the estate agents who referred them, which i dont believe they are doing anymore.

I am currently in the midst of an extremely frustrating experience in using the Lincoln Gilson Gray office for the sale of my property. What should have been a pretty easy process has turned into a two month delay (at this point) in getting to a completion date. This is primarily down to delays in queries being handled by my assigned solicitor at Gilson Gray.

I was only made aware of the fact that my solicitor was not handling by buyer's queries when I was chased by my estate agent in charge of the sale of my property. For example, my buyer's solicitor requested a copy of the signed Title Transfer (TR1) on 4 September. I was only made aware of needing to sign this on 8 November when I called the office and asked for the 6th time in 3 weeks if there was anything outstanding I needed to provide. I was chased again today by my estate agent saying my buyer's solicitors were waiting for answers to queries. I couldn't believe it. I had spoke to my solicitor 3 business days ago and she said that there were no outstanding queries. Yet, when I called to chase about these queries, my solicitor indeed 'claimed' she had got these queries at least 4 business days ago. (I suspect it has been longer.) Yet, then why didn't she mention it when I spoke to her 3 days ago. More worryingly, if I hadn't called to chase, when would I have found out about it. Additionally, my mortgage redemption letter has yet to be requested from my mortgage lender, despite asking them to do this over a week ago, and despite the fact we are days away from getting to a completion date.

I have had to chase EVERY STAGE of this process! Communication between parties has been extensively delayed, causing at least a TWO MONTH delay in getting to completion.

I have raised a complaint through the appropriate channels, but am only told that it is being investigated and a report will be provided in 4 weeks. This does nothing to help the present situation being eased. What does that say if management doesn't take complaints with concern and urgency?

I am still hopeful that things will get resolved in the next few days. I'll provide an update when the sale is complete and my complaint has been investigated and handled.

Until then, I would avoid using Gilson Gray Lincoln office for the sale of a property at all costs.

Used Gilson Gray as a recommended solicitor for conveyancing services on the sale of my house & onward purchase.

All was fine up until the point of exchange then completion as when you need to actually speak to somebody, you can't! Endless phone calls, constantly having to chase and calls/emails often not returned, not to mention stress and frustration throughout the process. I only found out that I'd completed on my sale/purchase from my estate agent; was not even contacted by Gilson Gray!! Very un-professional at times I must confess.

So for those looking to use Gilson Gray for conveyancing; I would suggest read the reviews here - I wish I had before I instructed them. Would not recommend.

If I could give 0 stars I would. The way this firm operates is absolutely disgusting, they have no consideration for the impact their actions, or lack of, affect peoples lives.

We recent sold a property and our buyer used the Gilson Gray Lincoln branch, from the start there were issues, queries being raised one at a time and at the last minute, weeks of silence only to raise another query when we asked for an exchange date.

The last 2 weeks before we finally moved were absolute hell. We were supposed to exchange on the 1st November and complete the following Friday. Every day our solicitor and estate agent were told lies, mislead, completely ignored or delayed by Aisha who was the person working on this case.

First she told us she was waiting for the buyers final authorisation to exchange, but the buyer was calling the estate agent complaining that she hadn’t received anything from Aisha, couldn’t reach her on the phone and wasn’t getting a call back or email response.

We had our estate agent chasing the lender to confirm funds could be released in time to complete only to find out Aisha hadn’t requested the funds 3 days before as she claimed. She then said she will request it while on the phone to the broker, it was not requested until nearly 5pm which was then too late for us to get confirmation and exchange.

When the money was finally authorised she raised another query regarding our property and declared it to the lender, the document she wanted was for shared ownership properties, which ours wasn’t. After our own solicitor went back and forth with her for an entire day and finally typed out the email for her to send to the lender, they accepted. Only for Aisha to declare that she had asked for the wrong document and she needed something else in order to exchange, the document should have been requested months before!

This happened at 5pm the day before we were due to complete….

We scrambled to get her the document the next day only for her to say that she had sent the funds back to lender and would need to wait to request them again.
After chasing all week we find out the funds weren’t sent back until Monday even though she said she did it Friday. The money wasn’t requested until very late on Wednesday, they only managed to exchange at about 4:30 on Thursday when we were due to complete on the Friday.

Even on the day of completion Aisha caused issues, she did not send the funds from our sale to our solicitor until after 2pm! This then delayed our onward purchase, they were the first in the chain so there was no reason for the delay and this meant we were sat outside our new home without keys and our possessions loaded in a van until 4:30pm!

If you are selling or buying a property and somewhere in the chain someone uses Gilson Gray I would run a mile. Believe me it’s not worth the stress.
