Avoid. There will be better out there.
Gilson Gray did the sale of my house which being under a contract with the estate agent went through easily. I thought being the seller solicitor, that it would make sense to be the buyer solicitor as well. How WRONG was I?! Despite having the same case handler it was painful with lack of communication, painfully slow processes, promises of action not kept and generally soulless to deal with. To start with I trusted they were just doing what they needed to do so responsed via portal when requested. Then after about 8 weeks I was like ok when are we completing on my purchase thinking it was roughly around week 12, then it took another 8 weeks with what seemed to be like a request for extra indemnity insurance for this, that and the other. From about week 10 I had to make weekly calls for updates, from week 14 I was on twice a week. I knew the sale and purchase wouldn’t happen on same day, with roughly a couple weeks in between but did not expect another 7 weeks!! Even when I had actual problems on the moving day as the sellers didn’t move out, they wouldn’t represent me to reclaim lost money as a result of having charges places on me by the removal people because sellers didn’t move out til 6pm! There will be much better solicitors out there. These seem to have a couple of senior solicitors to sign off and the rest are glorified admin, who have no authority to make anything happen. It must be as frustrating to work there as it is to have wrongly appointed them to do the purchase of the new house. What a horrible horrible experience. Avoid.
Re scores below I have had to say I was satisfied with the outcome as EVENTUALLY the purchase went through. I had to say they kept me informed because I rang them twice a week, I had to say they pointed out clauses because they did but they did not help me navigate them with advise. Just told it was my decision.
