Will

My husband and I have been saying for years that we must complete a Will. The incentive was when we received a leaflet through the door from Butterworths itemising a £50.00 deduction off the price,

It could not have been easier. I phoned Butterworths Solicitors, made an appointment to go into their Blackpool branch, met with Charlene Boyd who covered all aspects of our Will asking the most relevant questions. The Will was then drawn up and draft copy completed. A further appointment was made to conclude the Will and that was it. The process was very straight forward and Charlotte made us feel at ease with some very serious questions and our Will is now at last complete. One less thing to worry about!

Incredibly poor

A very poor experience, avoid Butterworths.
A very poor experience, with delays and incompetence at each stage.

A simple conveyancing issue, with a slight complication in a court order to be enforced. Many delays and poor communication, and when the court order was finally enacted I wasn't informed until I chased the court myself - only to be informed that my solicitor had been informed a month earlier.

My Butterworths solicitor claimed that she needed legal advice before dealing with that - the irony! I have no doubt that if I hadn't contacted the court myself I'd still be waiting for Butterworths to deal with the issue. My first mortgage offer expired after several renewals, I still don't know whether Butterworths had even attempted to deal with the court at that point.

They did offer to reduce the bill by £180 to reflect the poor service, but then increased their quoted court application fee from £100 to £400! The final bill was far in excess of the quote, with no unexpected events to justify the increase.

Finally, on completion day they refused to give a completion statement showing their fees until after completion. They gave 3 separate figures on the day, ranging from £4,200 to £33,600, and the final figure wasn't any of the 3 given. No explanation given for the differences.

My advice would be to steer well clear of Butterworths.

Poor service

I have hired delay again flights in May 2019 after my flights was cancelled in the last minute – 4 days- 1 week prior of my bookings.
I was informed by delay again flight administration people –solicitors that I could persuade my claims even if it was bought through the travel agency due to a short notice given - less than 14 days which is obligated by law.
My claim was acceptable and directed for Butterworths Solicitors Company.
Butterworths Solicitors Company – Delay again flights asked me to sign a lot of papers – They are acting on my behalf.
I have had a very poor service in terms of communication through phone calls and emails to find out about my process.
I was communicating with one of the staff that reported to me that it could take 18 months to be solved.
I was in my right and they were waiting for the airline to defend themselves regarding my claim.
I had a full refund of my ticket cost. However, I did this claim due to the stress I had that time with the cancellation at the last minute. Furthermore, I had to buy a new flight tickets which I did not pay the same amount as my previous ticket.
I did this claim not because of the compensation which I would get only 250 euros.
My point to go all this way - through solicitors was to reach the airline in terms of moral damage with a cancellation at the last minute.
Where is the customer service care, commitments?
I would like the airline understanding the stress and the moral damaged them caused me.
I was waiting for my compensation. I am sure that I am right to get it due to the facts.
A month ago when it was about to finish my case (18 months later 2020) and to get my compensation Butterworths Solicitors Company contact me saying that they revised my case and that they would not continue due to my tickets were bought through an agency.
This company is not trustable they knew very well since the begriming of my claims that my tickets was bought through agency and they accepted my case.
How I know that they did not continued to persuade my case and/or did get or not the compensation; and kept the compensation money?
It is only 250 euros, but if it is calculated for every customer that had the same experience as me how much would be?
I am a honest citizen that contact this company to try to persuade my rights against people that take advance of you, but what I get it was a very poor service. If my signature in lots of papers.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY

Fantastic Service from start to finish. Highly recommend

Never had such a dedicated team who helped me and my wife with the purchase of our house so much. When they say they do something they did it straight away and phoned on the dot every day with any updates. Gemma and her team were brilliant. Would highly recommend Butterworths to anyone, you will not be disappointed with the service they give. If I could give more stars I would. If we move again i will be using Butterworth again.

Having reached a time of life and experiencing unfortunate medical issues the time for prevarication over making wills finally came to an end.
We had heard good things about Butterworths Solicitors and decided to call them.
From the first telephone call ( very professional and friendly) the service that we received was exceptional. We conducted our business initially by phone because of our location. Charlene Boyd was a pleasure to deal with; very amiable and totally professional. She showed great empathy and patience and ensured that we were completely aware of the decisions we were making.
Understandably we had to eventually meet Charlene in person. This meeting took place in the Carlisle office at a time that suited us in terms of travelling. Charlene was once again a delight to deal with ensuring that we were entirely comfortable with our decisions and gently guiding us when we were unsure.
Charlene is a credit to Butterworths. Both my wife and I have no hesitation in recommending her and Butterworths to anyone requiring legal assistance.

Getting a will made professionally is something that always waits for another day. It’s important to make sure everything is in order for those left behind, so finally we made our will. Charlene at Butterworths made us feel confident about our decisions & was fully understanding of our needs. She is professional, with a friendly & helpful manner, explaining all the legal jargon.
I would highly recommend their will service at a very reasonable cost too.
