We have used Wilson’s in Horsforth before for property purchases and found them to be responsive and reliable. We dealt with one solicitor and she was really helpful and efficient. On this occasion our experience has been completely different. It took months to transfer the deeds from being in our name to that of a family member who lives there. No sale was made, no money exchanged hands. I thought it would be quick and straightforward. Despite explaining the above to every solicitor we spoke to (there were several) the whole process was treated as a sale process - lots of irrelevant online form-filling and emails from different people asking questions that did not apply.

Very basic transaction of a house purchase between family members with no mortgage and no chain. Should have been extremely fast but took 7 months.
Multiple times we provided all the information we were asked for, but every time there were additional hurdles to jump over, requesting information that was excessive and unnecessary.
Poor communication, we asked a number of times to speak to the solicitor in charge, or even for their name, which was refused. Rude, unhelpful staff.
Lifetime ISA funds drawn down 4 months before we completed.
Wanted to make a complaint but we were told that if we did it would affect the transaction.
Refused to speak to the person we had given authority to deal with the matter while I was overseas.
So many other issues, we have never had such a poor experience in any other transaction and could not regret using Wilsons more

A bit slow to respond to queries and generally to complete tasks. Solicitor managing case left part way through the process which didn’t help continuity. Not particularly good attention to detail and didn’t always seem very familiar with what was going on with my case. Delays because things had to be run past a central ‘compliance team’ - is compliance not the remit of the solicitor managing the case?

On the plus side: inexpensive and accessible and perfectly friendly to deal with and a good online platform, but I just felt that the process could have been done faster and more efficiently

Communication and action is slow and need constant prompting.

Would not leave anything to chance with them - always follow up

Went through 3 Solicitors as first one “left” after taking my case, nobody told me for weeks. 2nd one seemed to not know what a house was and 3rd only took over my case because I complained. Awful communication from the start, portal is a shame and never updated. Whole process end to end was stressful.

I actually completed in September but only just got a message to say completed on the 19th December!
