What an awful end to the selling process. Everything started off well, although one letter they sent me had someone else's address on?! Clearly they just cut and paste a lot of information and forgot to change address on my letter.
Yasar himself was generally ok to deal with, but switching off phone lines for most of the day did not help matters.
And then to make matters worse, Mr Ali decided to take a holiday in the same week as our completion date, he gave us no warning of this, like other solicitors do.
He did however leave our matter with Martin Waters. Unfortunately this man has no customer service skills whatsoever. Just 2 days before completion, he suddenly decided he wanted a chartered accountant to write us a statement to say that we didn't have to pay any Capital Gains Tax from the sale of the property. Why on earth would we have to pay that when we are selling our main private residence in which we lived together?? This caused us so much stress, but eventually we found someone who was willing (at substantial cost) to do us a statement. Martin even threatened us, saying if we didn't they couldn't proceed with the matter and to find another solicitor. He even told us to stop wasting his time as he had other clients to see to!
This company is certainly not "Elite" in the slightest, would recommend everyone to pay a bit more and find a more professional company, ideally a solicitors office you can walk into if there's a problem. I guess you get what you pay for in the end.
