Felt misled and overcharged on fees

We used a local solicitor for a house purchase to support the local economy. We could have gone on-line cheaper. We paid £475 up front. After searches came back, we were advised to be careful about the property as it had been underpinned. We withdrew, and asked if we owed anything. We were told no by the conveyancer as we had paid upfront. 2 weeks later and another bill arrived for another £525! So just short of £1000. When questioned, there was no negotiation, frankly NFG from this firm. Don't bother with this firm. Go online and get a no purchase guarantee on fees. They claimed to have got much further with the purchase, I would suggest to wait for searches before completing additional chargeable work and be accurate when telling people they don't owe anything.

Awful experience!!!

Requested a deed of easement to be drawn up. Started off fine with a phone call explaining how everything would go and that they will send out client documentation. Then long delays no replies to phone calls or emails. Then finally after months and months a reply back from one of the partners Alex saying that I should fine another solicitor with no explanation why. I understand solicitor’s are slow generally but these guys take the biscuit as not only are they super slow they don’t finish the job they started. Wasted months just leaving my on the line would have appreciated if they had told me they could do the work in the first place.

Would not recommend as customer service is apparently unimportant.

No communication and delayed and inaccurate. AVOID

Unfortunately I needed to work with BTTJ due to my mortgage advisor recommendation. they turned up very inaccurate, awful customer service and completely oblivious with regards to customer situation.
Completely waste of time and money!!! After two months of my sales on my house, they just started communicating and if I was not pushing I probably needed to wait another two months. The Solicitor who was supposed to work on my case did not turn up, and I still do not know what happened for him. After two months a new interim Solicitor allocated for my case.
Whenever I called BTTJ the way they answering the phone is like they are your customer. very rude and very condescending. avoid them if you can.
