House sale

Curwens acted for us in the sale of our house. They were approachable and we could always hand documents in to them despite covid restrictions. Courteous and professional, their response to e-mails was speedy, giving appropriate advice. It ensured the sale went smoothly. Our thanks to Pam, Stevie-Louise and all the team.

Great work Curwens Royston.

What could have been the complicated sale of our flat, was made easy by Pam and Stevie. They smoothed out the transaction with speed, knowledge and professionalism. The complete process took just twelve weeks, even during the Covid-19 crisis.
We were constantly updated throughout and would not hesitate to recommend Curwens Royston to anyone.
A big thank you to Pam and Stevie. What a team!

Divorce

Dont post reviews normally but have been considering it for over a year since reading the other reviews.
I did not want to comment at the time as thought my opinion could be affected by being in middle stressful divorce process
However now I’m in happy place looking back felt I also had to warn others that I also had a truly awful experience from Curwens Royston
PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS SOLICITOR

Divorce

Do not use Curwens Solicitors re divorce. They are very expensive and are awful at getting the best outcome for their client.
I had an initial meeting with Claire Pilsworth and was informed that the fees were approx £3500 and the divorce average was 6 months. My fees totalled £12500.00 and took about 3 years. They are totally out of their league. At court I was represented by Amanda Thurston who was not my solicitor, Claire Pilsworth was my solicitor and she was totally out of her league. Amanda mentioned that she had only been given my file the day before, how professional is that, having someone represent you at the most important meeting that doesnt know you or your case. She bullied me into accepting the outcome after 7 hours yes 7 hours in court. I was at first being represented by a barrister but without any notice they changed their decision to Amanda, how is that doing the best for your client.
Everything I was promised by Claire didn't happen, also she gave some very bad advice, my property was damaged and I was told by Claire I did not need to report the damage to the police. Speaking to the police, they were astonished that a legal practice gave such bad advice and that lost me any chance of prosecuting the person responsible for the damage. That meant I had to find in addition to their ridiculous fees an addition £20,000 to put my home back in liveable condition.
If you want to get legal representation from a solicitor that is very professional and represents and has their clients best interest at heart and do not rip you off then DO NOT USE CURWENS SOLICITORS AS THEY ARE A RUBBISH LAW FIRM THAT ONLY LOOKS AT THE FEES THAT THEY EARNING AND NOT THE INTERESTS OF THEIR CLIENTS.
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE OF THIS REVIEW.

Steer clear.

Awful. Lied to our faces. When calling the office to speak to our solicitor, the secretary always told us our solicitor was “on a call”, so we emailed our solicitor directly and received and out of office message saying she had left the company! The firm admitted their public relations mistake with this, but from then on the process was truly dreadful and couldn’t be trusted. Stay away if you don’t want to experience the same stressful situation we were in.

Disastrous experience

My experience with Curwens was absolutely dire, the worst I have ever had with any solicitor. Bradley Burnett, on the rare occasions he was available, was rude, condescending and verbally abusive. Bradley lacks people skills and the ability to communicate. Matthew barely knew what he was doing and together they were a shambles. The wrong documents were sent, over 300 pages of documents were upside down and in the wrong order and everything was to the wire. This circus almost cost me my property but worst of all was the verbal abuse. Absolutely awful awful firm, I don't know how they can get away with it. My advice is do not touch them

Conveyancing from Curwens

Bradley was absolutely brilliant, speedy and Uber responsive throughout. He chased a (difficult) set of solicitors acting on behalf of the vendor of the property I was buying and was a great communicator throughout.
