Incompetent

I can't begin to explain the level of incompetence from 2 case handlers, especially Samera Saddiq3. An extra 6 months of time wasting and then I was over charged by £1000
Terrible at responding at to emails and phone calls, no customer service skills, in particular Jack Grout
Awful service and now I have to complain to the legal ombudsman

Me worst nightmare, my family worked 4 year without any holiday to save money for our first home and finaly we did. It was easy job: first time buyer, no chain, no one is living in the house. But still fortunately we got Ebony Clark and this company. In so many months she couldn't done her job. Very poor communication, very slow, i could talk hours and give prooves about everything what's happened. And i am still on waiting to have my house key's. I hope i will get miracle and have done before Christmas. Do i recommend this company?
!!! NEVER choose Convey law !!!

9 months and almost 5K for a no chain transaction

This was a simple buying process with no chain attached, and it took 9 months and almost 4 times the price initially quoted.

There is a part of bad luck in this as my initial conveyancer left... after 5 months on my transaction, and was replaced by a much more efficient conveyancing team (thank you Alana and Laura).

But the whole process was extremely mishandled, and the cost is outrageous. Half of the items were not quoted or misquoted, and I did not have an update on costs for almost 6 months despite regularly requesting it.

As a result, not only did I fall into the stamp duty hike but my conveyancing costs on their own went through the roof. I must admit though that they have cut some of the costs at my request, but not enough in my view for the grief I have been through.

I would certainly not recommend using Conveylaw - the people I have dealt with are indeed agreeable and professional, but their process is broken, and the costs are just too high for the level of service.

Stay away

My experience with ConveyLaw was extremely disappointing and frustrating. Communication from Mr Furness throughout the process was poor, with updates that were infrequent, repetitive, and often lacking any real information. Despite calling multiple times and even escalating my concerns, I rarely received responses, and when I did, they were brief and unhelpful.

The delays in handling my case caused significant financial losses and stress. For example, I had to pay for a renewed RICS valuation because of the lack of urgency and poor management. I also incurred additional interest payments on Help to Buy due to the prolonged timeline. Tasks that could have been completed much earlier were neglected until I repeatedly followed up, which added to the frustration.

The entire remortgage process, which should have been completed much sooner, stretched to nearly five months. It was only after my case was reassigned to a new conveyancer, Ms Thomas, following multiple complaints, that things started moving forward. Unfortunately, by that point, the damage had already been done.

Overall, the lack of professionalism, poor communication, and inefficiency made this one of the most stressful experiences I have ever had. I would not recommend ConveyLaw to anyone seeking reliable and competent conveyancing services.

Stress inducing and doesn't act in your best interests.

I agree with all previous reviews about Convey Law on this page, especially when they hold you over a legal barrel.

I approached them with a very basic transaction, no chain on my side and no chain on the sellers side and it's turning into a nightmare and I am being put into a position very late on into the transaction where they are adding extortionate amounts yet giving me no other way to turn and holding me over a legal barrel that never needed to be an issue in the first place.

I am awaiting to see what they do to rectify first before I post my full thoughts and facts but at the moment I could lose my mortgage and house because of Convey Law.

The worst conveyancing experience -slow, deceitful and lack of honesty

If I could give zero stars here I would. A horrendous experience from start to finish. Save your money and go with somewhere with more ethical practices.

- Assigned conveyancer lacked knowledge and was working against us, constantly sharing false information with the seller which resulted in significant delays in the process and a financial penalty which we have had to incur

- Ridiculous lack of communication resulting in frustration from all parties. Despite written testimonies from sellers and estate agents with regards to this, Convey Law seems to find this an ok way to conduct business

- Frequent ingenuine claims made, despite evidence proven to the contrary

- Complaints process a total nightmare with a clear lacks of skills and knowledge across the board from all teams

From all the reviews across all the platforms, it is clear that Convey Law is notoriously known for being an ineffective firm, charging far too much for delivering nothing at all.

Please avoid at all costs - truly a centre for awful service.

Stress Inducing and financial bullies when legal issues are found

During our transaction we had experience the following

- Slow Responses
- Promising completion dates multiple times throughout the process that ended up changing 4 times
- Phoning won't get through (tried upwards of 10 times on the transaction), the only time you can get them on the phone is through arranging a call in advance but the solicitor has to initiate the idea
- Minimal contact with the seller's solicitors (keeping them in the dark past a certain point)
- Having sources of funds checked at the beginning and then again at the eleventh hour (on our case they had nearly half a year to sort this out and still had questions last minute)
- Not being told of additional charges until you receive the bill
- Their estimating team has no regard for your individual case and give a completely unrealistic number to entice you. If you receive a quotation x2.5 to give you a more accurate representation of what your final costs will be
- Our solicitor ended up leaving the company after we had sent across the money, there was no handover with regards to outstanding matters nor were we informed of this change

After experiencing all the above we made a request that would've left us more contempt with ConveyLaw however there was no interest from their side of accepting.

After the transaction we had been promised a full list of all transaction documents on a recorded phone call with our solicitor as she hadn't issued us a full list of completed enquiries the following was a result of ConveyLaw overpromising and underdelivering causing additional stress

- Full pack of information was promised by our solicitor and by the initial conversation we had with the post completion team.
- Chaser emails went through numerous times for this pack with no response.
- Once we had received our land registry deeds (4/5 months later) we got told an updated ID check would be charged to us and we would be charged £150 for the pack of information we were originally promised.
- After arguing this with 4-5 different people they could provide us individual documents but not the full pack (even though a smart IT system would surly be right clicking the file and attached to email - a 2 min job).
- Despite not needing an ID check for sending me the land registry document they needed an ID check to give us this information which was not audited correctly with no safeguarding measures in place - Their emails kept contradicting each other to the point where they indirectly agreed they could have send my land registry document to a fraudster.
- Despite me having concerns over sending my ID through email, I was told any further correspondence without sending an ID would be charged at £200 excl VAT per hour. Essentially financially bullying me into ignoring my concerns of fraudulent activities.
- Lastly Due to them requesting my ID through email I had asked for a full list of data being held on me to which I've had to ask 3 times and I've only received half an answer. How can anyone trust these 'legal experts' when they aren't aware of the legal regulations they must comply with?!

To summarise they have been nothing short of frustrating to deal with and when you have genuine concerns they could not care less. I write this review not to get one over the company but to hopefully defer other potential customers from going through the same stressful journey we have been through when buying a home should be a happy occasion.

5+ Months 3 Formal Complaints later this review now and counting.
No star- just avoid- below are only the latest details of this horrible transaction which if indeed falls through I will add all the details date to date so everyone can know what to expect.
Communication is shocking I have seen the slightest progress after I raised complaints and by that I mean receiving a phone call to allow them to work and for me to close the complaint.
Today I was told I wasn't their only client and to try to understand.
To understand that my solicitor waits for another "final" reply for some local authority searches that was received back in May..... It is now September there is always one "last" reply that he is waiting and one last thing.
For months now.....
My estate agent advise me yesterday that the sellers are about to put the flat back on the market.
My mortgage offers is about to expire 14/10/2024 with a product that I have already paid so I will be the only one loosing time and money here and I will try to mention the stress added to a minimum.
I started copying his manager to the emails that I send because I couldn't believe that in a whole firm only one person was my point of contact (which was no contact).
The sellers solicitors have proposed a completion date I don't even know when and I had to learn it from my estate agent and confirmed with my conveyor to go ahead and confirm and have heard nothing till now again.
On top of that the statement which I had requested multiple times I only received today a draft charging me £1000.00 on top of the quote I had originally received from Home Legal Direct.
I will be taking this to the legal ombudsman as honestly there is nothing more that I think I can do here.
Well done Convey Law, you made my first experience of buying a flat a nightmare.

***Update 16/09/2024
I received a phone call 13/09/2024 from my conveyor to advise me a review that he had done on my questions from the draft statement and all the extra charges.

I ended up going back with more questions but regarding our phone call at 16.20pm on a Friday he told me that he will be out of the office the next 2 weeks or so and my case will be taken over by his manager we had to cut the phone call short as i was in a meeting on my own but i asked him can you call me in 20 minutes or next week?

But he said that he will call me Sunday to follow up as apparently he was going off for 2 weeks but he would be working this weekend.(all these are on the recorded phone calls from convey law)
Never happened, he never called but at this point I was not even surprised.
Send another email today to actually confirm who is looking into my case as I did receive a notification from my bank that my mortgage offer will expire soon as I have been saying to them for a while but no one from convey law seems to care.

Stressful, poor communication and awful attitude to customer service

Throughout the process Natalie at convey law has provided an awful service. Emails would go unanswered and a response was only given if I went through the complaints team. The complete disregard for attention to detail meant that incorrect documents were sent out which then had to be returned, enquiries remanained in someones in tray until they were pushed to do anything about it and the whole sale and purchase has been now been put in jeopardy because of the delays and poor communication. I would avoid this company
