Rude and unhelpful

The solicitor (Kirstie Tompkins) was rude and unhelpful and often worked from home but had no phone set up so it was impossible to get in touch with her. All communications went through junior staff who couldn’t answer any questions and we had to constantly chase for a reply to any questions. Paperwork had incorrect spelling of our names multiple times even after letting them know their error. For the amount of money you pay you would expect competent people who care. They are arrogant and do not care at all about making what is already an incredibly stressful time any easier! Avoid.

Unhelpful & arrogant

We had Claudia as our solicitor for shared ownership. However, we did not formally talk right up until she called me to tell me when our completion date had been confirmed. I ended up dealing with John Game throughout the process who was helpful and responded to emails and phone calls promptly. Our big issue and complaint with Kew Law was that on the day of completion once half of our belongings were all loaded up into a van. Claudia called me and advised that we had paid her £999 short. We hadn’t, it was the product fee which was added onto our loan. Claudia was adamant that we were short and told me that we would not be able to complete until we had transferred her the £999. I asked that if my mortgage adviser called her would she speak with him and discuss. Claudia refused to speak with him which I found arrogant and unhelpful in this stressful time. What was supposed to be an exciting day now turned into an emotional unhappy one. So, we had no option but to find £999 (we didn’t have it) calling family frantically to see if someone could help us which I found incredibly embarrassing. Luckily, we got the funds and paid them and then Claudia ran the completion. After all this, we discussed with our mortgage lender what had happened and they have since been in contact with Kew Law and they’ve agreed with the error apologised and said they will reimburse us. We are now waiting for this. I would not recommend Kew Law at all. Avoid.

Average service

Initial contact for quote and acceptance of work was great however into the process I didn’t deal with the assigned solicitor. I had a trainee solicitor which is all well and good however there was a lot of back and forth as she didn’t follow dates on statements and accounts to match information up. When I called to clarify it had to be done in writing rather than over the phone. Also quoted me for additional work which was not shared upfront and then reduced the amount when I queried it. Also miscalculated final monies owing as reservation fee was sent directly to developer. The trainee didn’t apologize when mistakes were raised especially on the overcharging. Not the greatest service received for what is quite a lengthy drawn out process.

Avoid

Kew Law dealt with my divorce. I only wanted them to sort out one thing, which was a pension sharing agreement. They did not do this, and a year later I am still left chasing. When life is difficult you don't really don't need Kew Law helping you through.

Incompetent

My daughter and partner recently used this Company for the purchase of their first house. Their experience was utterly awful. Constant failure to respond to their emails and calls, errors made even up to the actual completion day itself - avoid using Kew Law.

Poor service

From start to finish my father and myself had an unpleasant experience with kew law.
I am never usually a person to write a public bad review, however I would not recommend this solicitors.
I still have not received my paperwork months on.
But strangely I have received a letter from the solicitor in question very promptly within a day of asking for the email of the relevant person to make a complaint to.
Quite clearly I will not be conversing with said solicitor any longer so I'm unsure why she has sent a letter.
Moreover the letter was addressed to the wrong person, another example of the lack of care .

Poor experience

From the start I should have known something was wrong. But I waited too long in hopes that everything had been done behind the scenes. I was dealing with a trainee who said that they were doing things and checking documents but nearly a month on and they hadn't corrected an issue. They hadn't contacted the developer's solicitor for the document/s they required to correct this issue. They hadn't looked at at my documents properly to process them until after house searches came back, which took 3 weeks. Now I'm delayed moving into my property by possibly up to two weeks because they hadn't done any checks during the time the searches were happening.

Communication is poor and infrequent. They want to charge me for contacting them via email, even though they are not being transparent about what stage they are at. They are unapologetic for their delays.

Horrible service and too expensive for no work done.
