Excellent conveyancing service

Carol Laurence and her secretary Sarah Ebling completed various land transactions for my family and myself after the sudden death of my father. Carol and Sarah dealt with a very difficult and sad time for us in a professional manner with a warm caring tone. We had many documents to complete and all this was made easier by the way in which everything was explained. Thanks you for your speedy completion of all aspects involved and I would highly recommend Owen Kenny for their excellent work.

Avoid this company

This company does not even deserve one star! Avoid this company, particularly David Small. I went to this company for legal assistance regarding my divorce. What was actually a quite straight forward divorce ended in vastly inflated fees of almost £12,000. The case didn’t even reach a Final Hearing. Much of these fees were generated by copious volumes of totally unnecessary letters produced to both me and my then husband incurring a charge on each and every occasion. I found David Small’s approach to be quite unhelpful and aggressive at times. I felt he did not have my, or my children’s, best interests in mind. Often I felt bullied by David to unnecessarily aggravate my husband, thus making the case more complex, resulting in more unnecessary fees for Owen Kenny. My experience with David Small only worsened when roughly £1,000 was added to my bill for David Small’s attendance to a particular Court Hearing. On the morning of this hearing I met David Small at his office reception. I specifically requested at this time that David should not attend Court as I had a Barrister and I was cautious of the cost of both David and the Barrister being present. David Small agreed and said he would walk me to the Court and simply introduce me to the Barrister. Bizarrely, David then chose to stay for the entire day, much of which was spent waiting around. David Small then charged me roughly £1,000 for the privilege of his company!! When I questioned these charges I was advised that I had run out of time to have charges reviewed by the court. Interest was added to the charges, some of this interest accrued due to the inefficiency of Owen Kenny in noting a new email address for me. This was followed by a written threat from Owen Kenny of legal proceedings. Owen Kenny refused to negotiate on these unnecessary fees and the end result was an attempt by Owen Kenny to issue a County Court Judgement against me. I am thoroughly disappointed with the service provided by David Small and I highly recommend avoiding this rip-off company. A totally unsatisfactory experience which has left me severely out of pocket. Do not use this company!!

Responsive modern firm with attention to detail

The purchase of our house was complicated by joint ownership of access and a large number of recent modifications. Carol waded through the documentation highlighting what was missing, and setting about getting it. Much of the communication was by email and this simplified and speeded things up considerably.

Very pleased with my solicitor at Owen Kenny

I have been very impressed and satisfied with my solicitor's level of service. I contacted (Katherine) to shed some clarity over a legal discrepancy that came to light surrounding my Building certificate, and she helped to get the situation straightened out and resolved.

I might add, my neighbours also had the same problem with their certificates too but their solicitors weren't anywhere near as thorough and communicative as Katherine at Owen Kenny. So I've recommended that they use OK when they need to sell up in future, as Katherine consistently offers a high standard of service.

Great outcome in a tricky situation

Putting it simply, I needed advice on access to my daughter, as she was due to move abroad with my ex partner. I was unsure on my rights and had been unclear on a 'father's' access and influence in the process. David at 'Owen Kenny' laid it out simply and, more importantly, in an understanding way. I was angry at the situation and needed his guidance and his ability to steer me in the right and correct direction. His clear advice allowed me to make correct and legal decisions. I write this review now as I am out of the other side of the issue and 'it worked'. In summary without David's advice my daughter and I would be in a very different place in our relationship, also her view that her father was there for her! Thank you Owen Kenny, a good team!

Quality and Value

David is, in my experience, an excellent solicitor. He was recommended to me for my 2nd divorce, I didn't hesitate to request his services for my third and he will be my first choice if there is a 4th. Let's hope not!

David is transparent about costs and operates in a lean, efficient, productive manner delivering excellent value in both quality and cost.
