Unhelpful and inadequate
During our divorce our marital home had to be sold. It was a complicated sale with various contracts. The Stables with grooms flat above, was sold to a buyer along with 3 acres at the far side of the estate.
Steve Gooden and his team at Stanley's organised this for us. At first I found him very helpful especially given the sometimes difficult relationship between my husband and myself.
We were categoric that the access between the stables and paddock, should be pedestrian, and vehicular only in emergencies.
At first the buyers adhered to this, but after a while began to drive regularly up and down the track. I spoke with Steve and asked for his help and advise. He said to recite paragraph to them. It didn't work. He then said he would write to them but upon rereading the contract, he suddenly said he couldn't help us.
My ex-husband questioned this and was told that because we had signed the contract we didn't have a leg to stand on!
I took separate legal advice as to what the contract actually said and was told that they could use vehicles at all times.
I complained through Standley's complaints procedure and this was handled by Steve Gooden! He didn't even bother replying to our letters.
Next the buyers stopped paying the maintenance contribution, again because the contract was so badly worded, we have been unable to rectify this.
The contract was extremely badly executed, but my main disappointment with this firm is the way we have been treated since and their lack of concern as to the position I have been put in to by their incompetent and inadequate service.
