Previously, we used the firm in relation to storing the deeds for our house and rewriting our wills.
On this occasion, my husband had died and although all other bank accounts , direct debits etc transferred relatively simply, NS&I insisted that a certificate of confirmation was necessary in order to pay the amount of my husbands premium bonds and any prizes into my account, despite the fact that they already had our marriage certificate, my husbands death certificate and a copy of the will naming me as executor and ole inheritor. Lesley acted on behalf of the firm. She was understanding, efficient and gave clear instructions at each stage about information needed in the paperwork. Any questions I had were answered swiftly by email. All transactions are now complete.

Our experience was purely with Kerri McCorkindale, who was knowledgeable, kind and helpful all through the process of dealing with my Mother's estate. Progress was as fast as Kerri could go - any slowdowns were due to others. Kerri kept us informed at every stage. We always felt that we had a very competent person on our side who would handle matters well.
My uncle died a couple of months earlier and it was decided to use a large Edinburgh firm to manage his estate. This was a very poor experience, with me having to deal with some of the more tricky matters myself because they seemed incapable of doing the job. Then they had the cheek to charge us about twice Kerri's fee.
I will certainly return to Russel + Aitken if I have need for legal help in the future.

Having decided to update our will after 40+ years, we decided to use Russel and Aitken as we have used them in the past and our house title deeds were already stored in their vault. We booked an appointment with Lesley Stewart at the Alloa office. Lesley was very friendly and not only updated our will but advised us on POA and the best way forward for our properties. We had no idea how useful this meeting would be! Lesley made us aware of all the implications of leaving everything as it stood, the changes we have now made have left us and our son in a much better position when the inevitable happens. Sound advice from a very experienced solicitor. I would highly recommend Russel and Aitken to all.
