Dissapointing Experience

I enlisted the services of Jackson Quinn Solicitors in Worksop to obtain Lasting Power of Attorney for my wife and I in July 2022.

After several months they contacted us to say that their legal executive who was handling the case had left the company and had failed to witness our signatures. As a result of this the process would have to be restarted.

We accepted this and completed a new batch of documents which were quickly submitted. We then assumed that everything was in place and the application was progressing, on the understanding that it could take several months due to the Covid backlog as initially explained.

12 months later they contacted us to say they were closing the file if we didn't respond. I went to see them, and they said this was because they had not received my daughter's completed attorney form. I showed them the certified proof of delivery to their office, but they had no explanation for its whereabouts. For a year they had seemingly sat on the file and failed to provide any update on progress. Had I been aware of the missing document this could have been addressed. In light of this I informed them that I no longer wished to proceed and asked for a refund.

I put my complaint in writing, which was immediately acknowledged, but received no further communication within the 8 weeks as outlined within their complaints procedure. Only after referring my complaint to the Law Society Legal Ombudsman did I receive an offer of a full refund.

It is my view that Jackson Quinn Solicitors displayed a clear lack of professionalism and poor communication throughout this process, and I would not recommend their services based on my experience above.

Worst experience ever

I vised the office in Worksop to make a new will. I am 76 years old and it was dreadful it took 4 attempts to get a correct will which was not full of spelling mistakes. I admit that I changed my instructions but working form home due to the lockdown is not successful for them. Due to ill health I managed to get them to post me an acceptable will which was dated signed and witnessed in the garden of the flats where I live. I advised them by email what I had done and told them that the original was in safe keeping with my funeral instructions and low and behold got an email back requesting I send them a copy. So if you want to avoid a nervous breakdown do not use them. On the plus side when I complained I received refund of the fee charged.

Don’t go anywhere else! Fantastic experience

David Woodhead has been absolutely incredible throughout our whole property experience. Contactable at all times, chasing all the other Solicitors in the process and communication was upheld throughout. Such a fantastic Solicitor who I would highly recommend to everyone. He made the process so much more manageable throughout, which is almost unheard of when buying a property. I will recommend these Solicitors to everyone.
Honestly don’t bother going anywhere else. They are the best of the best.
Well done Jackson Quinn, you’ve absolutely got it right. I will never use anyone else.

Family Law - Child Arrangements Order

I feel very let down by my solicitor Roz Evans - who was particularly weak against an unrepresented Respondent at a Family Court hearing. Respondent was allowed to lie without my solicitor challenging what he said. She allowed him to submit a nasty and untrue Statement of Evidence late, and even when I had evidence to show that at least some of his lies were lies, my solicitor failed to produce this evidence. I had asked my solicitor to bring up a number of points but she said nothing at all at the hearing on these. Whilst I am somewhat happier with the resulting Child Arrangements Order, what was achieved could, I feel, have been achieved without a solicitor. A lot of money for very little to show for it. I felt Roz Evans just did not believe me regarding the Respondent's domestic abuse and as such she failed to even attempt to show the Respondent for who he really is. Sometimes I think she went for the easy option in order to just get the money. Generally also very difficult on occasions to get hold of my solicitor - on two occasions I asked her secretary if she just had too many clients and should I go elsewhere. My solicitor was late filing my Statement of Evidence which gave the Respondent excuse to do likewise (after he had had the benefit of viewing my Statement first). Generally, I feel very let down by both my solicitor and the courts. Unfortunately, because I am terrified of going into court unrepresented, I will always have to pay for solicitors. Next time I have to go to court I will choose a different solicitor - but I have little faith in any solicitor to be honest.
