AVOID CORE LEGAL – MONTHS OF NIGHTMARE FOR A SIMPLE PROCESS

I recently used Core Legal in Wakefield as my solicitors for purchasing a home, and it was an absolutely horrendous experience. What should have been a simple and straightforward process turned into months of frustration, stress, and complete lack of support.

The communication from Core Legal was nothing short of atrocious. Weeks would go by without any updates unless I relentlessly chased them via email. Even then, responses were either non-existent or came in the form of a vague, one-liner that provided no real information. Sally Hare, the managing director assigned to my case, was impossible to get hold of. Every time I called, I was told she was "on the phone." Her assistant, Dawn, was equally unhelpful and shockingly rude in the rare moments I could speak with her.

Despite repeatedly promising updates, I received no communication unless I probed them myself. After the purchase was supposedly complete, I had to hound them for months to receive my property deeds, which they had assured me would be sent promptly. When I finally received them—three months later—I was informed they had been sitting there completed all along. Why they couldn’t be bothered to send them in a timely manner is beyond comprehension.

This entire ordeal dragged on unnecessarily, causing immense stress during what should have been an exciting time. It felt like I was fighting them every step of the way just to get basic updates and progress. Their lack of professionalism and complete disregard for their clients is shocking. A process that should have taken weeks stretched into months of utter misery.

I was recommended Core Legal by Richard Kendall, the estate agents (who themselves were fantastic), but Core Legal was the polar opposite. They failed to meet even the lowest standard of service and turned what should have been a smooth transaction into a nightmare.

If you value your time, sanity, and peace of mind, avoid Core Legal at all costs. Do not make the same mistake I did. There are countless better options out there. 0/5 stars.

Pretty similar feedback to others - using them for house purchase. Lack of any communication/updates. I thought we'd got lucky as the Managing Director was the one by the looks working on our account but it's so far been a painful experience - just no communication around timeframes, what has/hasn't been done, have had to chase. Would seriously advice them to work on a CRM style platform that actually gives people updates. Timings on the website didn't mirror the timings they actually open meaning I arranged diary to drop documents off and they weren't open (they'd recently changed times but no apology despite the website, phone-line or no confirmation of changed times when I told them I was coming to the office). Last phonecall I was advised that we weren't a priority and therefore would receive a poorer service/less communication. Will change review on completion to reflect whole process/if improvements have been seen.

Avoid like the plague. They didn't do my convenyacing properly for a property I bought in 2020 and now my future property purchase is at risk because I cannot remortgage it. I'm now looking to pursue legal action against them.

Great experience with Core legal when buying our first home recently. We had Tiffany, who was very responsive. I called the main office a few times too with different queries and always had a really helpful response. They were cheaper than some of our friends are currently paying other firms too. Would definitely recommend!
