DO NOT USE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES

DO NOT USE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES
This company are doing the conveyancing for my recent mortgage application with Halifax. They send Microsoft Word documents with Macro's enabled to you via email - this is a classic phishing/malware attack vector. Macro's allow custom written code to be executed on your device with escalated privileges. It could therefore install a keylogger, install an APT, or reach out to a command-and-control site and download a malware payload.
You should never open a document that has Macro's enabled unless you explicitly trust the author with your life! There is absolutely no justifiable reason ever for a solicitors to be needing to use Macro's, and then sending these documents onto their clients.
It's an unimaginable security risk, and speaks volumes - they obviously do not care about IT security in any shape or form, or you, their client's data. I can not stress strongly enough - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, DO NOT OPEN AND DELETE ANY ATTACHMENTS THEY HAVE SENT YOU!

Just dreadful

Tick all the boxes below. They do pick up the phones, and try to help, which is at least something in their favour.

Really Poor service

Recently remortgaged and Solex were the solicitor company appointed by the new lender.
Very poor communication and there was an unjustified delay on processing my paperwork resulting on me paying a very high mortgage payment due to the high interest rate. Made a complaint 10 days ago and up until today I had no answer whatsoever from Solex.
I do not recommend this company to anyone and really don’t understand why bank uses companies like this one to provide services for them. Shocking!!

Sales & Purchase

We recently appointed Solex for our sales and purchase and was absolutely delighted with the service. It was an awful experience with the other sides but our Conveyancers Fiona and Sneha were amazing. They kept us fully informed throughout the whole process and was able to put our minds at ease that, sometimes this service is complicated but you just have to allow the process to move forward which it did. The star ratings do not allow for the actual review because we would certainly score Solex more than 5 stars! Highly recommend this firm.

They really are as bad as everyone says

I'm not usually one to leave bad reviews but if I can help just one person not use Solex, I will be happy.

Like many on here, I was automatically appointed Solex by Halifax for a simple transfer of equity. After 2 weeks I switched to a local solicitor and I am so glad I did. Yes, I had to pay for the local solicitor, but Solex are really not even worth the 'free' service they provide. There are plenty of people on here who waited months to jump ship. I'm so glad I did after three weeks.

You are sent emails with errors, poorly formatted letters with mistakes and you are required to fill out a lot of the paperwork on your own without support. I sent 6 emails to Solex during my three weeks using them. I never received a reply. You cannot speak to your case handler. There is a phoneline you can ring, and after 30 mins on hold you speak to someone without legal training.

They continue to send me emails and letters which bare no resemblance to my case, or the fact I switched solicitors nearly 3 months ago.

They are the worst company I have ever dealt with. I think it's unacceptable that Halifax continue to use them.

If Solex are appointed as your solicitors, please change as soon you can. Most local solicitors are on Halifax's panel - you can check this easily. But avoid waiting to see if things improve, because they do not.

Disgrace

This company are an absolute disgrace.
Unable to complete a transfer of equity and remortgage.
You get ignored, emails not replied to, impossible to speak to your ‘case handler’
Their incompetence has costs me thousands of pounds already.
Absolutely disgusting that Halifax continue to use them. They should be shut down.
The amount of stress, anxiety and financial loss these people have caused me because they seem incapable of doing their jobs should be criminal.
If you are advised to use them for your remortgage refuse. The reviews all over the internet should be a clear enough warning. I wish I had looked into them rather than just going with the advice of my mortgage broker.

Poor communications

Started a remortage through Halifax, who are using Solex Legal Service for the legal work.
Already having problems with Solex less than a week after starting the process.
Why would a big bank like Halifax want to work with this company, my experince so far matching the 1 star reviews on this website and I am considering pulling out of the remortage due to Solex rather than trying to continue through Solex.

Excellent, can't fault the service, special call out to Sarah Shaw.

Ok, I have a flat and I'm a landlord, so its always slightly complicated to remortgage, lease's and AST of the tenants. 5 years ago with another firm I had a totally miserable experience. So this time, credit where credit due, I can't fault the service, I remortgaged when Liz Truss was making a complete howler of the economy, I went from a choice of 90 mortgages down to 5 in a matter of days, so you can imaging how busy Solex were during this time, and yes it took 30 minutes to get through initially, but the call wait times reduced as economic normality returned. Shout out to Sarah Shaw, who was brilliant at explaining what was required of me, and there are others just as good. I complete on 1st of Feb. Thank you so much.

Not a single human response in over three months

I was forced to use Solex by a mortgage company and it was honestly the most frustrating and stressful experience of my life. They would take six weeks to read an email despite needing to get it resolved quickly. If you have a choice avoid them at all costs

Absolutely shocking service

I've got no real case handler, i have spent over 8 hours on hold in total and only half way through the process of a remortgage. They make errors, don't communicate and their online system is full of glitches. AVOID.
