Gwyn James Solicitors (Property Department)
This review is for a different branch.
Comment Gwyn James's service relating to a recent property sale/purchase was extremely poor. The whole process took four months, despite the fact that there were only three people in the chain. Seven weeks passed between GW receiving initial instructions and them doing anything. E-mails and phone messages were regularly ignored. They assigned two different staff to the case, who were in different offices and who seemed hardly ever to communicate with each other. One of them was not a qualified solicitor, and seemed to have a limited understanding of property law; they provided the purchaser's solicitor with incorrect information which delayed the process considerably and could have resulted in the loss of the sale. Overall, dealing with Gwyn James has been frustrating, stressful and time-consuming. The impression gained is of a business which is unprofessional, chaotic, and has little concern for its clients. There seems to be a lack of basic procedures for covering staff absences, or for helping staff to manage their workloads effectively. Staff appear to have had little or no training in dealing professionally and sympathetically with clients who, by definition, are likely to be under stress.
