Navigating a difficult time

When our Mum died we handed probate and all financial matters over to Renaissance Legal. Both Stuart Price and Deborah Henn were great! Professional, knowledgeable, sensitive and thorough. Would really recommend Renaissance Legal and have happily done so over the years. You are in safe hands.

Renaissance Legal
Were the solicitors always recommended to us by the Special Needs schools my son attended as they understood the law around finances for disabled people. We made the first Trust for our son in 2017 then as many of our circumstances had changed we updated the Trust, our Wills and added on LPAs for us in 2024.
If you're not a Solicitor then legalese is completely mind boggling so you need someone understanding in your corner to take that pressure off.
The RL team are friendly and competent and answer e-mails in a timely fashion so queries are sorted fast.
They still offer the option to have a face to face meeting for the initial consultation, which I far prefer over a Zoom call.
I had complete confidence in the work they did and there is peace of mind knowing that there is a structure left behind for your loved one. RL will check up on us in 5 years or so to see if anything needs updating again.

Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs)

My experience throughout the whole procedure was one of support from my solicitor and her legal knowledge.
The complexities arising from some issues where I needed to make decisions which were at times difficult for me, were met with careful explanations and reassurance and I felt confident to proceed. Help was always given when I needed it and with good legal advice.

Wills and Disabled Persons Trust

We used Renaissance a few years ago to write our wills and set up a disabled person’s trust for our youngest son. They were so helpful then, that when it came to needing to update both documents we went straight back to Renaissance. There are many solicitors more local to us, but they just don’t seem to have the same knowledge and understanding needed for this specialist sort of work where vulnerable people are involved. Philip and his team were so helpful and supportive and answered the numerous questions we had. Both documents are now updated and complete which has given us peace of mind. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Renaissance to friends and family. Thank you.

Setting up a disabled person trust, and lasting power of attorney

First rate professional service on both tasks.
We picked Renaissance after hearing one of the partners speak at a free seminar on setting up trusts. All of that good advice and knowledge was evident as they walked us through the steps needed to set up a trust for our disabled son and help us ensure our own affairs were in order.
Having a disabled child is full of things to worry about - thanks to the team at Renaissance there are now 2 big topics we do not have to include on that list.

This firm has a very useful niche practice for the relatives of vulnerable people. Stuart Price was very thorough and efficient. I dealt with many solicitors during my career and I was impressed.

The team at Renaissance legal have successfully helped us to navigate the creation of a disabled persons trust and our wills. The team have been instructive, patient, friendly and have listened and paid attention to detail. The costs for this service are not small but we have had value for money in terms of the quality of the service received. Thanks to the team and in particular Katherine Miller and Theresa Howard.

We contacted Renaissance after watching one of Philips webinars on Wills and Trusts, having worried for many years about how to secure our sons future financially. It's quite an emotional experience, but Stuart was brilliant, he guided us through every step and was really patient as we took quite a bit of time to think things through before finalising our documents. Many thanks to Stuart and the wider team, lovely people, great service and peace of mind for us for the future. Would highly recommend to other families who are considering a Trust.

Practice areas

We specialise in working with families and carers of disabled and vulnerable individuals, helping them plan effectively for the future. Our team has built its excellent reputation on understanding the needs of parents and carers – all of whom are dealing with complex, often challenging lives, where it’s vital that they can understand their options. We understand that planning for the future can be difficult and involve complicated decisions. This may be especially true when a disabled or vulnerable individual is involved and with their needs to also consider. Our philosophy is to simplify the process as much as possible and in certain circumstances, if the family feel it is appropriate, we look to include the disabled and vulnerable person in the process and at key meetings. The 2022 edition of the Legal 500 reports the following: The team is co-headed by Philip Warford and Katherine Miller – the duo ‘live and breathe the values of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, putting these in to practice for the benefit of clients and their families.’ ‘Renaissance Legal provide a unique legal service to people with learning disability and their families. A caring, professional and competitively priced firm that understand that it is just as important to put people at ease as it is provide good advice.’ ‘Philp Warford is excellent at putting vulnerable people at ease.’ ‘The practice is unique due to its specialism in supporting adults with learning disabilities and the parents of children (including children) with learning disabilities. The team’s expertise in mental capacity and planning ahead for this client group is impressive, and sets them apart from private client teams who do more generic work.’ As well as advising families and carers of disabled individuals, we also provide legal advice to private individuals, families – young and old, the vulnerable and the elderly. We have long-standing relationships with clients across Sussex, the South East and London.
