We were dealt with in a very friendly but professional manner. Everything was explained clearly and if we were unsure of the meaning of something it was again explained to ensure we were confident of the meaning. A good experience.

I am re writing my review. Michael Cook deemed by review to be defamatory. He has since written to me threatening legal action against my review as he deemed it be defamatory.

I am entitled to write a review and see how I feel I have been treated and how their conduct in acting for me has been poor.

Due to the delay of the sale going through, the buyer was desperate to move into my property and wanted to rent it. He wanted the sale to go through by the latest 12th July.

He had put the offer in in mid March and I accepted. My case was left for 4 weeks as the person dealing with it had left Michael Cook Law Firm and no one had acted on it. Robinson Lettings had informed me that they had stopped using Michael Cook as their had been a number of complaints.

I trusted Michael Cook would then act accordingly. He never once returned my phone calls, when I was told on numerous occasions he would call me back in person and never did.

The buyer dropped out of the sale after the 12th July, as he told me he had no choice because he had to sign up to a 6 month contract to rent, as he had nowhere to live.

Michael Cook Law firm have been unprofessional and incompetent in my opinion. I am only writing what I feel they have been towards me and what Robinsons Lettings told me and what buyer had told me.

Mr Cook writing a letter threatening legal action for defamatory comments is what I feel to be threatening and intimidating behaviour.

I was given 48 hours to remove my review or will progress with proceedings.

I strongly advise not to use this law firm. I had a buyer for my flat in mid march. It should have been a straight forward sale. The supposedly "solicitor" dealing with it left the practice and my sale was not handed over. Nothing was done for more than six weeks. It was only when I called to follow things up, it was confirmed the solicitor had left 4 weeks ago and it still took another 2 weeks for someone to act on it. The person dealing with it was not admin person with no legal experience. I constantly had to chase them up on a weekly basis. Robinsons letting agent in Chester Le Street who found the buyer for me stopped sending them work from end of March. Their Durham office also does not send them work since March as they had also received a lot of complaints from Michael Law Firm.
The receptionist who also answered the phone was constantly passive aggressive in her manner. She knew the sale of the flat was being delayed and got a great pleasure in treating me in a very undermining way.
Michael Cook never returned my phone calls at all, even though I was told he would call back.
The whole team are unprofessional.
The buyer for my flat pulled out yesterday. He had been desperate to move in since March. His solicitors repeatedly told Michael Cook he need to be moved in by the 12th July.
I am now reporting Michael Cook for malpractice.

I recently purchased my first home through Michael Cook and unfortunately I cannot say I'd recommend. Updates were scarse and had an unnecessary 2 week delay due to forgetting to answer enquiries. Limited communication with the sellers solicitor. When it came to complete I was never made aware I had to give authority on the day of completion which could have resulted in the sale not going through. The app is a good idea but never gets updated making it redundant. If I had known I would have gone elsewhere
