Worst service ever experienced.

We used Gorvins for the purchase of our first house. Constant inefficiencies and lack of communication and transparency from their side.

Poor Service

I would avoid Gorvins if you want a stress free experience. Pretty much zero communication, conflicting requests, asking for things that have already been sent, provided with 3 different completion figures (and act like I should have known the 1st two were wrong!).
Charged an extra £450 for buying through auction (fair enough) but then told that they would read or advise on the auction contract!
Complained to one of the Partners to no avail. They simply do not know how to provide a good customer focussed service. For any other service provider that gave such a poor service, you’d be looking to withhold some of their fee - unfortunately, it’s an industry that has you over a barrel as you have to pay them in full before you can complete the purchase. Maybe that’s the reason Gorvins believe they can provide such a poor service and not give two hoots. AVOID!

Cost me my life savings

Gorvins Solicitors cost me my life savings by incorrectly calculating stamp duty through what can only be described as incompetence and neglect. They had incorrectly calculated stamp duty on my house purchase which ultimately cost me and my partner 3x more than what they had discussed and quoted.

There was no apology, no consideration and when asked whether they could let me pay this over a period of time given that it was their mistake I was told no; and if I didn't pay I would be liable to pay legal costs and the seller of the home could sue me.

I purchased a house and remortgaged a house at the same time with them, back in June 24'.

This was the final straw with them during what had been a poor experience overall.

I dealt with Hamza Munir, Sophie Leathley and Martin Noon through out most of the process and the communication was very cold. Post completion my files were managed by Natalie Mills and Callum Lawler-Smith.

I understand that a mistake can happen, and in this case it was a large one. But the way that it was handled once it became apparent was disrespectful and I honestly couldn't recommend you consider looking elsewhere any more. They're not the cheapest solicitors, but that doesn't always mean you get good quality service.

I am still in the process…..

DO NOT USE - they have just gone down hill. (I must say they were fantastic when using the app on my previous sake) I am still in the process 6 months later and both parties wanted a quick transfer…. The guy I deal with just cannot be bothered - you can hear it in his voice. My buyers changed solicitors after the first month of no action - 5 months later Gorvins were not aware of it even though told multiple times And if you are reading this Gorvins it is 1 Ullswater….

Non-responsive and not professional

They do not respond to my enquiries or deliver what I paid them for.
I have been waiting for the deeds of my property (which I paid them for) for 9 months now, and despite my repeated emails, I have not received any response.
Horrible experience, I would not recommend them. They are NOT efficient, and do NOT deliver what they are paid for.

Beyond frustrating experience.

Beyond frustrating experience. I would not recommend them. They ignore you until the very last minute when they wake up and start asking for documents they missed. Their app serves no purpose and not updated by them so you never truly know where things are at. Exchange of contracts and completion date had to be the same day, and was postponed because of their incompetence and lack of care. We had to chase so many times and what is worse is that we NEVER throughout this whole process spoke with our surveyor - she never picked up the phone or called us back. We had the estate agent calling us in panic because neither them or the other party's surveyor could get hold of her. She totally oversaw the fact that part of our deposit was coming from abroad (although she had this info for MONTHS) and the day before supposed exchange of contracts she was asking us paperwork and identity checks for our family abroad - causing incredible stress. I also need to highlight the fact that none of our questions or concerns were ever answered. Absolutely frustrating through and through, I think they are just taking too many clients in and they do everything last minute because they have no choice.

Worst solicitors in UK

The worst solicitors in UK, we are in the process of buying a house, second time ! The first time we was told it was the sellers fault only to find out it was their fault for taking to long - 6months. We went with them the second time after a false claim the search fees will be free, had two different people confirming this and yet still when we are I’m ow on our 4month of waiting they decided we have to pay the search fees, which also has increase more than 20%. Further more we signed our contract 3 weeks ago and was told that another search needs to be done on mining, seriously though this was meant to be done first! Can’t wait until we complete , if we even complete the sale. I will write reviews on every platform I find so people are aware what a terrible company this is !

Gave wrong completion figures TWICE

I was recommended Gorvins to deal with our remortgage of our property from my mortgage broker/

They was swift with their responses and the process moved at a timely manner.

However on the day of completion i had still not received an updated completion statement showing the correct amounts of borrowing.

Eventually this was received and i agreed to complete based upon a overpayment figure being paid to myself once funds were received so i could consolidate debts.( after all this was the purpose of the remortgage)

Cut to the chase the figures on the completion statement were wrongly provided to me meaning the figure i received was less than i had agreed to.

When i went back to the solicitor to query this she advised that this amount would be coming from the new mortgage company direct after completion.

When i spoke to the mortgage broker they advised that there was no further funds being released to me and it was infact Gorvins completion statement that was wrong. not something you expect from a solicitors that are being paid in excess of £1000.

So not only did Gorvins advise me of the wrong figures on the completion statement, they also further advised me incorrectly that it was coming from the mortgage company direct.

I have since sent this complaint to the Partner at Gorvins who offered me reimbursement of the £24 TT fee. Which is a complete insult being that the amount i am down is over 10 times that amount.

Gorvins made sure their fee was taken correctly BTW!!!!!

absolutely terribe, my purchase was dragged for almost a year

I am afraid the service I got is absolutely not satisfactory. We agreed a price at the beginning and confirmed with email. But later I was charged more, I emailed Rob, the team leader, but did not recieve any reply. The purchase was dragged on for almost a year. I have to wait for weeks before Maisie, the solicitor, replied every email. Maisie also tended to ignore my request. I asked a change of solicitor later, so for three months, Natasha was my contact. But there was no progress at all, every time I was told they would contact the seller and update me. After a few month, without any notice, Natasha stopped answering my email and Maisie came back although I requested that she should be removed from my case since she did not reply my email. I had to contact the estate agent and seller myself and tried to push the purchase. The purchase was dragged on forever and I found it was really difficult to get anything from them. I requested documents and emailed with my questions, all of them ignored. Only later, Maisie was on holiday and someone else stepped in, these questions were answered. I emailed Rob the team leader about my disappoitment again, but received no reply. So if you want to drag your purchase for a year, be ignored and charged more than agreed, choose them.
