Hopeless
Whilst fixed price may hook you in, the service is shocking. I found out probate had been granted before Co-Op informed me. Two case handlers been and gone. The most frustrating - zero communication. Emails go unanswered and no call backs. Almost 12 month in and no idea on progress.

Not as good as we thought it would be

The service at the beginning seemed promising then they started changing solicitors around and our fees have gone up over a period of 18 months. Still we are not happy with their service delivery and inefficiency .

Incompetent avoid at all costs

AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID - INCOMPETENT

I tried to provide information to allow this solicitor to do the task required - an application to change a court order - they ignored my meeting request - without even replying to me - not once several times. As a consequence what they produced was then unusable and it left me inadequate time to make alterations or instruct someone else - they then refused to do anything else without further payment

They chased me for money laundering documentation that had already been supplied and separately for payment that had already been paid - with phone numbers on emails that were for the wrong department in the wrong city - so I was unable to get in touch with them

They Prey on Vulnerable Individuals in Desperate Situations

My father's funeral was arranged by the Co-op, who conspired with my sister, who lacks proof of being my dad's child, against me. They attached his funeral cost to the full probate, despite my dad having sufficient funds in his account to cover it. Once they realized they needed my involvement, their plan with my two younger siblings fell apart. Although I was unhappy, I have previous experience with probate from handling my mother’s funeral, so I knew the procedure.

The correct process is to arrange the funeral, present the cost to the bank, and have it paid from the deceased’s account, provided there are sufficient funds, which my father had. The service offered initially was for those without immediate funds to cover funeral costs.

When my siblings' plan failed, they had to rely on me to initiate probate. Despite my displeasure, I wanted to resolve everything and avoid the trauma of my mother's funeral and probate. I continued with the Co-op but requested a new case handler. Throughout the process, I felt their treatment was biased, seemingly favoring my siblings and their interests without my authorization. This bias likely benefited the Co-op financially.

I consistently voiced my concerns to the Co-op, but I never felt genuine empathy from them. This became evident when I decided against selling my dad’s home through them and suggested they take the funeral and probate costs from my dad's account, which had sufficient funds. They refused and demanded upfront payment unless I sold the home through them. They are holding me at ransom, using the HMRC code which I cannot access.

The Co-op are rogue bullies preying on vulnerable individuals in desperate situations. They conspired with my siblings against me, failing to advise them on the best options for my dad’s estate. My father had six children and left no will.

Unprofessional

We signed up in September for full probate service at £11k first contact was good but since then rubbish. E mails not answered and despite asking a week ago no idea if probate has been applied for as no response. Would suggest better using local solicitor even if more expensive.

Disappointed

Dreadful service. Started ok dealing with deceased estate 2 years ago. Absolutely nothing has been done for 14 months. No reply to emails, telephone messages etc. When phoning the office direct number long waits before being cut off. This should have been a straight forward estate administration which is being drawn out - possibly due to high case load, but work should not be undertaken if it can not be carried out in a timely fashion.
