We are delighted Nikki Sharpe has joined the Best team. Here’s is a little bit about Nikki: My name is Nicola Sharpe (Nikki) I was born in London Ealing and then moved up North and spent most of my childhood and earlier years in a little village called Alston in Cumbria. I attended the local secondary school and left school with very minimal qualifications and little aspiration. I went onto Carlisle Technical College where I undertook a 1 year secretarial course and then relocated to Manchester where I secured employment in a Solicitors firm called Thompsons. I was employed initially as a filing clerk but as time went on I decided I wanted to get more involved with the legal work and help clients. Therefore I embarked on my legal studies juggling the same with work and then eventually taking one year off work to attend The University of Sheffield. I picked Sheffield because at the time Thompsons had opened an office there – I transferred and was promoted to legal secretary and then eventually after I had qualified both as a Legal Executive and Solicitor I started work with my own clients. I stayed with the firm for 33 years before facing redundancy and since then have had a few other jobs until recently when I started at Best Solicitors. I have a passion to help people and have my own social enterprise called youthcanachieve set up to help vulnerable young people. I love animals and have 3 cats and 2 horses, most of which I rescued. I was brought up in the care system and know it’s great when things go right but I also understand how sometimes they can go wrong – I have great experience of this and consequently I am the Branch Chair of the NSPCC in Sheffield. I have also served as a local City Councillor for the Walkley Ward and I’m a little bit of a business entrepreneur and inventor of equestrian products. The specialism I bring to Best Solicitors is Employment and Discrimination law. I also have a keen interest in Licensing Law and Personal Injury. I look forward to bringing my wealth of experience and passion for justice to Best Solicitors and to being part of the Best Team. I will be running Employment and Discrimination legal clinics on the last Saturday of the month (10am – 1pm) at our Walk-in Centre on Pinstone Street. Pop along and see me at the clinic or call to make an appointment at an alternative time.
