If I could put 0 I would!
There is simply not enough room to put into full context the experience we have had with Clowes and Co. The communication is not clear, not in good time, not regular to say the least, the review does not let me use negative language, which is fitting for a company who clearly does not care about the best interests of their clients. Who would rather send back and forth emails arguing with clients and third parties than taking accountability for their own lack lustre approach to their practices. Un-professional is a light way of putting my honest feelings about Clowes and Co. Whom I still await a phone call from the owner to speak about my concerns and complaint, it is clear to see why the people beneath her are also rude and argumentative. If you need a conveyancer who will do the job you expect them to do, don't bother.

uncommunicative and passed around
We were pointed in the direction of Clowes & Co by our estate agents.
An initial invoice for services was drawn up for the sale of existing house and purchase of new House. Some questions around the use of the house as it had stables and land but was for personal use. Sent loads of random information not relevant as it was not a business around tax and usage registration etc. Could not get to speak to solicitor. Send emails and called but still no call back.
Searches took an absolute age to get back.
We had a change of purchase after our survey came back so closed that purchase. Found a new property and informed Clowes of new details. Pretty much the same as previous. However Clowes decided it now came under a commercial class and we needed to be moved to the commercial department with an increased cost of circa £4k? Could not make any sense around this as its purely private use. So we closed and went to another solicitor for our new purchase.
Seem very reluctant to call back, other people and update on things.
We got more information from our estate agents as they seem to talk to them.
A poor service.

I am sorry to hear that you were not happy with the service we provided in relation to your purchase. We always try to go above and beyond to offer the best service we can. We always have to ensure that we are doing everything we can to make sure we deal with a purchase as professionally as possible and in this case even though your were not planning to use the property in a commercial manner, we would have needed to ensure that we did further investigations to ensure any previous commercial elements of the property were satisfied.
