Ian is the only Full Professional Member of Solicitors for the Elderly in Port Talbot. He is the firm’s Managing Partner, a member of our Conveyancing and Elderly Client Services Departments.
Ian was admitted as a Solicitor in 1991 and is also a Past President of the Neath Port Talbot Law Society.

Away from the Law one of Ian’s interest is Rugby Union. Having commenced his career with Taibach RFC he then played first class rugby for a number of seasons for Aberavon RFC as well as Bridgend RFC, Maesteg RFC and Neath RFC. He also played representative rugby for Crawshays Welsh RFC, Welsh Academicals RFC, Glamorgan County RFC and Central Glamorgan RFC as well as enjoying touring Canada with Porthcawl RFC Veterans and Maesteg Quins RFC.

Lasting Power of Attorney
Mr Spender came to our home, as my husband and I found great difficulty in climbing the stairs to his office. He took great trouble in explaining the Lasting Power of Attorney to us. I was able to read the forms, but my husband, who has Macular Degeneration could not. Mr Spender spent time and effort in reading the forms to him. In fact, nothing was too much trouble for Mr Spender, who put us both at ease. I highly recommend Mr Spender for his professionalism and his genuine concern for our welfare.

LPA Application
My LPA application was in relation to my 101 year old mother. Even at her advanced age, her mental capabilities are remarkable, but age has reduced her physical abilities - so hence the need for an LPA.
From my initial enquiry/discussion I received all relevant details with patience, courtesy and also in a friendly manner. Sympathetic interviews with my mother were carried out - always in a friendly way. The outcome is that the LPA has now been completed and registered the O.P.G. I am happy to endorse Howe & Spender.

Excellent Service

Will and Testament drawn up
Our first Will and Testament was discussed with Ian Spender who answered all of our questions without hesitation or time restraint. We had quite a few questions to be fair! His knowledge, understanding, guidance and experience was invaluable and gave us the confidence to make informed decisions. Sharon Hopkins was professional from start to finish. She has a wonderful manner which again instilled us with confidence and put us at our ease. There was no pressure and we were given the time and opportunity to reevaluate and make sure our final decision was the right one. We do not hesitate to recommend this firm and indeed I have already done so.
