When I spoke to James Belderbos regarding separation, divorce and child matters, I found James to have a very open and refreshing approach. He strongly encouraged a non-combative approach through the use of mediation and collaboration, stating that courts were to be viewed as a last resort in resolving conflict. James was also clear on his message, advice and was punctual in meetings not looking to extend the time unnecessarily. Because of this, I was able to keep meeting times and costs to a minimum. I would strongly recommend James to anyone who needs a calm guide on the legal complexities of separation and divorce.

Prenuptial agreement
I wanted expert advice face to face locally. I was able to meet with James quickly and have a productive meeting at which the pros and cons and issues with prenuptial agreements were well covered. My own circumstances and aims were well understood and reflected back in the brief from the meeting. Subsequently a key point of issue (with the pre nup) was discussed and resolved to my satisfaction. I did think there’d be more lawyer to lawyer discussion on the draft but to be fair a ‘round table’ approach had been proposed and on reflection that may have saved time and cost. I was satisfied with the prenuptial agreement signed off.

Apron first contacting Belderbos solicitors, I found them to be very upfront, honest and decent, with all aspects of communication.
They helped me navigate all aspects of what I requested, and gave sound clear advice on the best way to proceed.
I would imagine most people getting divorced for the first time, finds all legal requirements to be a daunting undertaking.
James and the team made it far less stressful and dealt with me very professionally and in a friendly manner at all times.
I would highly recommend them to family friends and colleagues.

Professional, clear advice from James
In a time that was highly stressful, confusing and emotional for me, James offered clear and concise advice with an approach that was direct and no fuss and his knowledge and guidance gave me confidence in my own decision making, the best route forward in my case and a better understanding of the processes involved. I had used a solicitor in the past who spent so much of our consultation time talking, but not saying much of value, so it was so refreshing to feel that every minute of my meetings or phone calls with James was money well spent on useful and valuable advice. I’d highly recommend James, he was a calm in the storm for me.
