I deal with a wide variety of matters affecting employers and employees. I enjoy the technical challenges Employment Law involves, as well as the people-oriented focus, I aim to resolve situations in a way that allows the employer and employee to move forward positively. I advise on internal matters, including grievances and disciplinaries, restrictive covenants, and the application of and obligations arising under TUPE. I have an interest in the law on whistleblowing. I have experience of handling all types of Tribunal case, including all kinds of discrimination and victimisation, as well as unfair and constructive dismissal. I also have significant experience in the Employment Appeal Tribunal; for example, in 2013 I successfully defended an appeal against a Judgment that a claim for disability discrimination was out of time. I undertook the Bar Vocational Course at Nottingham Law School and cross-qualified as a solicitor in 2008. I have practiced Employment Law since 2003, beginning my career in a consultancy representing employers at Tribunals. I moved to work for a large national law firm, representing companies and employees in Employment Tribunal proceedings, as well as advising on employee relations issues. I have been published in the industry publication ELA Briefing. I pride myself on developing a good rapport with clients so that they appreciate that I understand the outcomes they are looking to achieve. Comments include the following: “I would like to put on record, formally, my deepest appreciation to you for all your hard work in getting us to this point. From the outset I have found you to be hugely professional, incredibly thorough, very clear in all your explanations (both written and in discussion), patient and conscientious in all that you have done.” I graduated in law from the University of Liverpool in 2001. Before joining Lyons Davidson, I worked as an Employment Advocate representing Respondent employers in Employment Tribunals.

Termination Agreement advice
Robinson Ralph responded to my request for help swiftly, with care and attention to detail. David reviewed all documents and took me through the legal language in a clear and effective way, breaking down complex terminology and explaining meaning, consequences and impact, clause by clause.
This help in dealing with my former employer expedited a process that had been difficult and upsetting, guiding me through the legal process to an outcome. I would definitely recommend.

Engaging, enjoyable and informative
Great feedback from our delegates on both sessions delivered. Simon and David were lighthearted and engaged well with the attendees, making what can be a dry subject very engaging and informative. Excellent, practical and down-to-earth advice
We engaged David, Nick and Ellie in supporting an employment matter. Not only were they easy to deal with, but there was a down-to-earth approach that made the whole matter easier than we thought it could have been. Excellent value for money.

Helped massively during a settlement agreement at work and would absolutely use again. Settled any nerves and put all legalese in layman’s terms. Always available and responded right away. Cheers again for the help.

DE&I Training and Employment Law Update
Thank you once again for delivering such exceptional training to our People & Culture team! Your flexibility and collaborative approach in shaping the content to meet our specific needs is truly invaluable and always appreciated.
The training was engaging, interactive, and refreshingly practical. Team feedback was overwhelmingly positive, especially regarding the case studies, which provided great insight by bringing real scenarios to life, helping us better understand the concepts in practical, real-world terms. The clear breakdown of upcoming changes also gave us a solid overview of what to expect and reinforced our responsibilities as employers.
Both presenters did an outstanding job at keeping the sessions interactive, which helps everyone retain the key points. And, as always… your humor is unmatched—criminally good! Thank you again for a fantastic session.
