Georgina heads up the firm’s Corporate + Commercial team. With over 20 years’ experience, she is well placed to advise and assist businesses and their owners on all aspects of corporate and commercial law.
Georgina has considerable private practice and in-house experience, having spent ten years in the corporate teams at Allen & Overy in London and King & Wood Mallesons in Sydney. She joined Barcan+Kirby from energy regulator Ofgem where she was a principal legal adviser. Her particular recent experience spans sectors including childcare, financial services and hospitality.
Georgina’s expertise lies in all aspects of the sale and purchase of companies and businesses, as well as other matters including buy backs, shareholder agreements, company formations, reorganisations and shareholder exits. Her commercial law experience includes advising on a range of commercial contracts, including standard terms and conditions, supply contracts, distribution and franchise agreements.
She is recognised as being efficient, professional and supportive. Georgina is passionate about providing practical, commercially-focused advice in a way that is accessible to clients. She is often asked to speak at seminars talking on topics related to exiting a business.

Every aspect of the service provided was extremely good. GB and her team communicated with me brilliantly throughout the sale and were always responsive. They also collaborated superbly with the other advisers connected to the sale. GB is just impressive generally - her handling of situations and cutting through information. And funny too.
I appreciated working on a fixed price basis and the admin side of things was all very smooth.

This was not an easy deal due to sensitivities around ownership and the circumstances for the business coming to market.
From start to finish George and her team were excellent. George set out the legal framework of the deal very clearly and was always responsive to any queries or issues that arose. The advice was clear and always commercial, not just based around the law, and understanding the deal in its entirety and the ultimate goal.
All communication was very user-friendly, and the firm’s dealings with any people within the business were always sensitive and professional.
I would certainly recommend George and team.
