Ruth Wright
Solicitor - Director
SRA ID: 151626
I am a Director of the firm and joined EMG in April 2023. I lead the Court of Protection department in the Manchester area office, working as a Solicitor specialising in all matters relating to the Court of Protection and Trust administration. I also provide expert witness evidence to support solicitors dealing with litigated claims in respect of the likely costs associated with running a professional deputyship or acting as a professional trustee. The vast majority of my clients have acquired brain injuries due to catastrophic accidents or clinical negligence. They are incapacitated and unable to manage their own finances, as defined by the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and have or are in the process of obtaining large compensation settlements. In many cases I become involved pre-settlement whilst the litigation is ongoing and continue to support clients after their case has settled. My job involves regular client contact and contact with their family, case managers, carers and therapists and other professionals involved in supporting my client. I am responsible for general day to day money management, overseeing financial investments, the completion of annual tax returns, reporting to the OPG, advising on and drafting all types of Court of Protection applications (see our services section for details), and the purchase of assets including suitable accommodation and adapted vehicles.
