Richard Barratt is a Solicitor and Partner. He is the head of our leading Divorce and Family Law team.

Richard is also an expert at dealing with disputes regarding children in the family courts.
Richard has a particular expertise in advising clients on pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements to ensure these agreements provide maximum protection for your assets in the event of relationship breakdown.

Divorce - FDR - its a tough gig
No divorce is clean... its years unpicking your life.
Poole Alcock worked on my behalf for finance separation of a long marriage.
This is the only real area worth paying for.
I have had 3 other solicitors... all fleeced me as a naive separated parent.
Richard Barratt acted on my behalf for all matters prior to the hearing.
He positioned me well for the hearing and laid out all terms and complied with all paperwork.
I had to chase some items which were missed, however, those delays will always be due to third parties such as accountants and surveyors.
The Barrister who represented me was fantastic...
its the case that a lawyer will not represent in court so be prepared to budget £4.5k-6k for a decent one... its worth it and go for a clean break... else they will take you back to court for a new washing line or a cost of a flat tyre... and I am not exaggerating.
Be patient and know that your life will be on hold for...wait for it... at least 1 year... poss more... its painful... no one tells you this but a lawyer ... a good one is a must... and you don't know til you know.
This is an honest review...
I thought the other lawyers were good until I realised they were just there for the money... not the result!!

Richard was open and informative
I have spoken to other law firms about divorce and there is no comparison. The other firms demanded money off you before they would give you any advice at all. Richard was open and informative in our initial free call.

Great service and quick advice
