Danny is one of the senior partners in the Private Client Department with considerable experience in tax and succession planning through Wills, trusts and other vehicles. Danny began his career in 1978, passing Legal Executive and Common Professional exams, and working in the field of probate. In 1988, he joined Gepp Solicitors as a Legal Executive, was admitted as a Solicitor in 1990, and made a Partner in 1991. Danny is a tax, trusts and estate specialist often brought in by other professionals including accountants, IFAs and other solicitors, who are confident in his practical and straightforward approach. They are secure in the knowledge that he will provide solutions to their clients whilst at the same time strengthening their own relationship with that client. He is frequently recommended by land agents and agricultural consultants to assist their clients with agricultural property relief and business property relief issues. This has recently resulted in a family being advised, in the final weeks of the widow’s life, to exchange land to achieve an instant saving of tax in the region of £100,000 without the need for a survivorship period.

My experience began with a meeting with Danny Carter which clarified a number of points leading to very straightforward progress and the conclusion of my case which was overseen by Isla Forrest.
Isla was very pleasant to deal with and my queries were dealt with very quickly. Where issues became more complicated she referred them to the Partner.

Swift legal advice on an Agricultural property
We required some legal advice regarding inheritance on a smallholding farm, due to our age and current political circumstances, we were seeking some prompt advice. Having been recommended Danny Carter at Gepps, we chose to proceed. Danny and his team were all very efficient and Danny was very accommodating with the fast appointments we required, and he gave excellent advice.
