Lauren Whittaker

Foreign Qualified Lawyer

Lauren qualified a solicitor and barrister in Western Australia in 2020 and joined BLJ in June 2024 as a Qualified Foreign Lawyer. She graduated from Liverpool John Moores University in 2011 with a degree in Law & Criminal Justice. She also joined a Northwest Law firm working in their criminal department in 2011 and went on to complete the Graduate Diploma in Law at the College of Law in 2012. In 2012, she moved to New York City where she spent a year working as a legal intern and completed her a Post Graduate Certificate in International Practice in 2013. She returned to the UK and became police station accredited in 2015. In 2016, she emigrated to Western Australia where she completed her LLB and Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice and being admitted as a lawyer in 2020. Whilst in Australia she spent 4 years working for criminal judges at the Supreme Court of Western Australia dealing with homicides and dangerous sexual offenders. She then went on to practice as a lawyer in criminal defence practice. In 2022, she returned to the UK and has worked in the Regulatory teams at national firms dealing with health and safety matters, inquests, CQC investigations and mental health law. In 2024, she decided to return to criminal practice. Outside of work Lauren enjoys spending time with her friends and family, trips to the lakes, spending time with her dog and painting.
