I had a conversation with Mr Marcus Parsons today at Kingfords as regards inheritance tax/trust planning and what I felt might be a knotty issue. He suggested I rang a firm of accountants in the first instance and only get back to him if they didn't resolve it and he didn't even charge for this advice. This is outstanding service. I would certainly recommend this company to both individuals and business contacts after this exemplary interaction and would use them myself in the future for subsequent legal work. I was also impressed by the secretary Ms Louise Brown who fielded the original query from me. She was extremely efficient.

Farcical internal probe of a formal complaint
I made a formal complaint against Kingsfords after an awful few months trying to dispute my mother’s Will, executed by my greedy sister who left me just 8%. Kingsfords’s performance was patchy to lazy and downright rude.
Their compliance officer of all people refused to send a PDF to my bank which they needed to receive my tiny portion. So after overseeing a travesty of justice they were slow and hard to get hold of, even though I live in Tokyo and they knew the dispute had given me two panic attacks. The compliance officer sniffed: “I’m too busy to send PDFs” despite knowing that unless she did I wouldn’t get my money. Not content with being disrespectful and rude to a client she then HUNG UP ON ME!!
I made a formal complaint. The internal “investigation” concluded there was no wrongdoing! Of course it did. It was a farce, covering their bases behind bare-faced misrepresentations of the events and weak obfuscation a child could see through. My next stop will be the ombudsman and as a career journalist (Reuters among them) I have a piece ready to find a publication, so prospective clients can be warned what to expect.

Rude, Arrogant and Indifferent
After overseeing a family heist in which I was robbed of almost 200,000GBP they were unable to comply with the simplest of requests -- to send a PDF of the transfer details which was needed since the money is over a week late (and counting) in arriving. This despite being repeatedly asked. The compliance officer actually told me, her client, "I'm busy. It's not my job to send PDFs" and then HUNG UP ON ME (this at 2am where I am based in Tokyo).
The experience with the Will and Kingsford's lack of empathy, basic courtesy and humanity has caused me to have three panic attacks this year.
