Avoid Optima at all costs

I am appalled with the service I have received from optima.

They are handling a remortgage which has taken longer than it took to buy my house in total! It’s taken over 3 months so far to handle a transfer or equity and change of title deed, not that complicated.

I have received little to no communication about my case. Every time I call they confirm that nothing has been actioned on the account. So 3 months of almost no work being actioned on my account.

I have logged a complaint about the lack of activity, bad customer service and low quality of work to which I was advised would be followed with a 48hr call back. 6 working days later and I have heard nothing. I called twice in this timeframe to chase and I was advised by an unhelpful phone agent that, still, nothing had even been looked at on my complaint or my account and they couldn’t advise when I would get called back and wouldn’t allow me to speak to anyone else, they couldn’t give me an eta on the case or tell me what was left to be actioned. What exactly are these people employed to do?

On top of this, the few things that have been actioned have been done incorrectly by the case handler. Meaning I’m having to provide the same information over and over again, which then puts me to the back of the queue due to constant mistakes on the case handlers behalf?

Yep I’m unable to speak to this person directly.

This whole situation has been traumatic for me given that it’s a split with me and my ex partner and nobody I have spoken to has shown any enthusiasm or commitment to actually doing the work on the account.

I’ve heard some solicitors are bad but these are the worst I have EVER dealt with. Please avoid at all costs.

Slow, slow, slow

Poor. Simple remortgage and transfer of equity and I'm in month 3 still not done. Have to phone every week and then something happens for two days then back to phoning again then following week. Don't update the online task tracker until you ring. Once your are through they then lie to you saying you haven't sent things or the mortgage adviser hasn't sent things despite being cc'd into the initial email and seeing the documents uploaded in the portal.
Supposed to be called by a case worker within 48 hours after stating my dissatisfaction- 72 hours later no call.
Only positive is you do get through pretty quickly when you phone.

Optima Legal is one of the worst firms I have ever dealt with and I’m a solicitor so I’ve dealt with a fair few. They were appointed by the lender to deal with my re-mortgage and I instructed them to deal with a linked property transfer. They were appallingly bad. They clearly didn’t know what they were doing (repeatedly queried what was a standard restriction on the title deeds and they didn’t know how to resolve it). You can never speak directly to a lawyer, only one of the ‘robots’ who answer the phone who promise they will get a lawyer to call you but they never do. You send messages on their portal which take a minimum of 10 days for them to respond to. When they do respond they just repeatedly ask for information you have already provided. I told them on numerous occasions I wanted to make a complaint and threatened them with the Legal Ombudsman but still never received a response. I told them numerous times that the chain was at risk of collapsing and they didn’t care. I got better advice from one phone call to the Land Registry than I did in weeks of dealing with Optima. In the end I de-instructed them and instructed my own lawyers who managed to get the transaction completed within a couple of weeks. They’re basically a ‘factory firm’ who process multiple applications on behalf of lenders but they have no concept of customer service or client care. If your lender instructs them I would seriously recommend refusing to use them and pay a bit extra to use your own solicitors. It will save you a whole load of stress and frustration.

We have used this company with a re mortgage, they lie through their teeth and fib you off with emails. I have never been treated by a so called professional company so badly. If you are offered Optima Legal please please please do not use as you wil be caused a lot of stress and will not get anywhere as they are totally usless. They lie about time limits and I have taken screen shots of all the emails and will be putting a report together to send to the ombusman.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, ITS LINKED TO PEXA UK so i would expect that they are as bad.

Just appalling. Banks should reconsider who they use.

Carried out legal work in relation to a Santander remortgage. They were assigned by Santander, not chosen by me. Just so, so poor. They ask for information in series, with repeated 3 week gaps. For example, they will request documents such as a completion statement. 3 weeks later, someone will review and they will request the headed letter that accompanied the completion statement. This will take a further 3 weeks to review. Therefore, uploading 2 letters will take 6 weeks. EVERYTHING is done in series - one thing asked after the other. There is no foresight, it is incredibly inefficient and some of the worst service I have ever received... Not just with regard to legal services... ever.

Terrible experience! We were offered free legals with a remortgage. We said why not...worse mistake ever!!
They are so slow that nothing gets done.
They lie when you call for an update.
We had to close the file with them after a month of waiting.
Moved the file to our main solicitors and they got everything done on the day of receiving the mortgage offer!!
NEVER EVER WILL WE DEAL WITH OPTIMA LEGAL!!!
THEY SHOULD GET STRUCK OFF!!!
