Disappointing Consultation

I sought legal advice on UK self-sponsorship options, a complex visa path. Despite the £100 fee (significant in India), I paid without hesitation, respecting UK norms. However, the experience was deeply disappointing from start to finish.
Red flags appeared during scheduling. After a conflict with my preferred time, they offered a 30-minute slot just 10 minutes away. I agreed, seeking assurance about continuing the next day if needed. Surprisingly, the consultation was via WhatsApp, not a professional platform as expected for a paid service.
The solicitor, Mr. Unnikrishnan, seemed disinterested from the start. My query about extending the call was met with a noncommittal "we'll see." Despite prior communication, I had to repeat my query.

Mr. Unnikrishnan's approach was dismissive and unengaging. Without exploring my situation, he immediately declared self-sponsorship from abroad impossible. This could have been communicated via email, saving time and money. As we talked, I found myself suggesting possibilities while he reluctantly acknowledged some. His skepticism about my chances was palpable, and he often contradicted himself when pressed.
Oddly, I drove the conversation, proposing scenarios instead of him asking questions and offering tailored advice. A professional approach would have involved thoroughly assessing my circumstances before advising. Even if self-sponsorship was challenging, I expected a detailed explanation based on my specific case.

For £100, albeit for 30 minutes, the service fell far short. Using WhatsApp, lack of preparation, and the dismissive attitude were unprofessional. The lack of in-depth analysis and failure to explore alternatives or outline risks was disappointing.
Throughout, I felt undervalued as a client. The solicitor's reluctance to explore options or provide comprehensive advice was frustrating. I expected a thorough case assessment and clear guidance on potential pathways or risks, even if the conclusion was that my goals were difficult.
Worst of all, despite promising in emails to follow up the next day for any clarifications, they failed to do so. My subsequent emails and WhatsApp messages to Mr. Unnikrishnan went unanswered, showing a complete disregard for their commitments and basic client courtesy.

This experience left me feeling undervalued and no better informed. While self-sponsorship is complex, the consultation provided no value for the fee. A professional service should have thoroughly examined my circumstances and offered well-reasoned advice, even if negative.

The entire consultation lacked depth, professionalism, and basic client respect. For anyone seeking UK immigration advice, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. A good solicitor should explore all case angles, provide clear, consistent advice, respect clients regardless of their situation's complexity, and honor follow-up commitments.

In conclusion, this consultation fell far short of professional standards. The dismissive attitude, lack of thorough analysis, failure to provide comprehensive advice, and absence of promised follow-up are unacceptable for a paid legal service. Those seeking immigration advice should find solicitors who are knowledgeable, committed to understanding unique situations, and provide valuable, actionable guidance. Unfortunately, my experience with this firm and Mr. Unnikrishnan demonstrated none of these qualities.

I cannot recommend this service. The experience left me questioning the quality of legal services provided and feeling that my time and money were wasted. Potential clients should seek more professional and client-focused alternatives for their legal consultation needs.
