This is the second time in just over 12 months that we have used Merritts for conveyancing and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend Charlotte and the team and would definitely use them again. From the initial quotation to completion the process was efficient and smooth. Merritts were very responsive and we felt we were kept well informed of progress throughout. Whilst we mostly communicated via email (which worked well for us) we did have a few calls with Charlotte and she was really friendly and a pleasure to work with.

Trust me when you read this - use anyone but Merritts for your house sale/purchase. We’re so mentally exhausted from the experience that we can’t even bring ourselves to write a full review. In summary -
- Zero proactive communication: we didn’t hear from our solicitor for the first two weeks, and after that it took on average 3 emails before we got a reply. Many of our questions were unanswered.
- Professionalism: everyone at Merritts that we dealt with, seemed like they couldn’t get rid of you quickly enough. Replies bordered on rude, and despite multiple promises to have a call back from our solicitor ‘as a matter of urgency’, she claimed to have never been advised this.
- Had to do alot of the work ourselves to keep the process moving, including taking it upon ourselves to get our searches returned early, despite being told this wouldn’t be possible. This was made more difficult by the fact that we were given the wrong company name to chase.
Strongly advise looking for alternatives. Please read the other reviews of Merritts before considering using them.

I regret to state that my experience with your firm has been thoroughly disappointing and unsatisfactory. I strongly advise against engaging your services.
Based on the solicitor assigned to my case, I found myself in a position where I wished I had never entrusted you with my legal matters. Your firm’s response times were excessively long, necessitating repeated follow-ups.
I raised an issue with the contract, which I was assured would be rectified at a later stage. However, this assurance proved to be unfounded, and subsequent requests for assistance have been met with silence. As a result, I am now deprived of funds that rightfully should have been mine.
In my experience with numerous solicitors, your firm has unequivocally been the worst. This is a matter of severe concern and negligence, which has had a direct adverse financial impact on me.
