Purchased a property with 'no chain' for either party.
George Watson were recommended as having a good working relationship with other highly recommended solicitors representing the vendors EG Law.
All set for a swift transaction.
It took 4 weeks for our solicitors to be notified formally by EG law.
Process was slow but communication/ updates were not very regular.
There was action when prompted from our side, didn't seem overly proactive though.
It took 20 weeks to get to a place where the solicitors property report was ready.
In the meantime the vendors found a property to buy, so we were then in a chain.
No opportunity to discuss the property report (I had to set a deadline for this) as we were passed onto other solicitors due to ill health. It then became apparent that alot more was required to be done in the background to reach the target completion date.
There were plenty of ailments found with the property after the initial offer was accepted, there was no success i negotiating some shared responsibilities for these problems.
A transaction that had a lot of promise to be swift and simple was far from it.
