Diabolical solicitors... do not recommend

2.5 years wasted with this diabolical solicitors. They lost/closed my claim. The lack of updates & honesty throughout the claim was non existent. After I complained the senior partner, he seemed very rude and abrupt in letters and treating us like we didn't know anything at all about horses, considering we have had & been around horses our whole lives. The solicitors seemed to be more interested in believing the other parties lies & photos which didn't prove anything. So now left disfigured, scared and in chronic pain for the rest of my life, with absolutely nothing back not even a years wages I missed out on while recovering after infections, 2 emergency surgeries and wound healing. This solicitors told me, lorry drivers don't have to use their mirrors or stop when animals become agitated next to their cabs. Common sense really....

5* service from Sebastian for our house sale and purchase

I cannot fault Sebastian Thorpe at Bird & Co Grantham in his handling of a house sale and purchase for us. Sebastian was recommended to us by a relative who found his service second to none. Having bought and sold a couple of properties in recent years, I can honestly say Sebastian was the most proactive and responsive solicitor I have ever used. I felt completely confident every step of the way that he was on the ball ad matters were being progressed swiftly.
I was made to feel like his only client and given his full attention whenever I made contact with him. Every question I ever asked was answered promptly and thoroughly. Sebastian was very approachable and always went the extra mile. We received unlimited patience and support.
The transactions were not straightforward at times but we felt completely relaxed knowing he was acting for us. We would never want to use anyone else again.
If you are considering using Bird & Co, you will not regret using Sebastian to handle your transaction.

Professional, compassionate and amazing

Both myself and my husband were initially investigated for conspiracy to defraud. We were lucky to then find Damian Sabino who travelled to represent us despite not being local and yet the fees were still no more than local firms. The case against myself was dropped completely and my husband had a fantastic result, the sentence sought was 3 years and he walked away with unpaid work.
We couldn't have had a better solicitor, Damian was available 24 hours a day with support, compassion and a fantastic legal brain. We are both so so grateful for everything Damian has done for us, thank you so muc

Poor conveyancing, abysmal complaint handling, avoid

Bird & Co initially seemed like competent solicitors, more than capable of handling a simple purchase of a flat, unfortunately four years later it's become obvious that they rushed the process, skirted their basic checks and do not care about their clients. Having had a formal complaint with them for in excess of three months and still not received a response I think really speaks for itself as to their level of commitment and care towards clients. Avoid at all costs.

No personal contact whatsoever. All done online and the system is very unreliable. They couldn't make their mind up if I'd completed their forms or not. Had to do it several times.
No updates unless you chase them yourself repeatedly. I had to push them along every step of the way. Even the estate agents were chasing them to make progress. I had no idea what was happening most of the time. They refused to review the file as they went along, and wouldn't answer my questions or consider my comments until the end when everything was complete, and that added to delays.
Took them 4 months to do a simple cash purchase with no chain, no mortgage, no complications. That was with all the coaxing and pushing. This was before lockdown.
The only thing they did thoroughly and efficiently was vetting me, their client, under the Money Laundering Regs. They did that really well, and made it clear that are certainly not on my side.
They made errors that I had to pick up and didn't even spell my name right.
They blamed the other side for delays and yet the vendor told me he'd sent it all in months earlier.
After completion they returned important documents and all my personal ID docs to me in the post in inadequate packing and lost some and the rest were returned in open bags so anybody could read them. I was horrified, but the boss, Daniel Chard blamed it on Royal Mail and refused to accept any responsibility at all. He was perfectly happy with that practice.
I chose them and asked for Victoria Wakley because they had the best reviews in Grantham, but, if this is the best that Grantham has to offer, go to Notts.

Unbelievably obstructive and bizarre conveyancing practices

Don’t use this company if you wish to progress through a conveyancing process efficiently and quickly. Half the time, you’ll be left wondering if they are actually doing anything at all. They are the only conveyancers I know who wouldn’t review a case until they have received a mortgage offer letter. Everything seems to have to happen sequentially, with zero flexibility to accommodate pleas to speed up the process. Seems to be better suited to operating in the 19th century when there were no phones or email!
