Terrible communication

Case Number 772000

The purchase was never completed, but I endured three months of a interesting unprofessiaonal experience. The caseworker consistently failed to respond to my requests. For instance, it took three weeks to get an answer on how much it would cost to leave the dishwasher in the house—three weeks after the estate agent confirmed that the response had been sent. I was unable to reach the caseworker for three weeks, and no, she was not on vacation (at least, that's what I was told). Escalating the issue to the caseworker's team leader only helped on the third attempt.

The caseworker NEVER informed me that the mortgage offer from the bank had not been received, despite my sending a copy of the mortgage offer to her. You will never receive any confirmation letters, such as "requested documents have been received," nor will you get any notifications about to-do items, like paying to start the search process. In the end, I was somewhat relieved that the purchase was canceled because it allowed me to move on to other solicitors!

Abysmal customer service

Our conveyancing case handler mixed up the prices of the properties we were selling and buying because she kept mixing up the pages in our forms (and refused to be guided to the correct pages until after many attempts), she misread a title register, she added unauthorised fees to our account (despite notes on our account) and so it went.

We tried getting a change of conveyancing case handler but were blocked from speaking to her manager by various staff when phoning in. The manager didn't bother even speaking to us after we emailed clientservices, instead our conveyancing case handler got in touch and instructed us that the issue was resolved. Then she went on to not pay attention again some more.

We got so fed up with her after she did work on buying a property ONE MONTH after we told her not to (the chain collapsed) that we felt there was no salvaging the situation and that we'd rather start again with a completely different firm. At that point someone FINALLY decided to provide the contact details for the manager.

Very unreliable. I'd steer clear

All was nice and quick until I was assigned a case handler. After this everything ground down to a halt. Their manager was absolutely no help either.
Can never get a hold of anyone on the phone, and they did not keep me updated in regards to my purchase. I've no clue how they managed to get the reviews they have, but I can only assume it's not from property conveyancing.
I would strongly advise against using them. My mortgage advisor who pointed me towards them also added them to their black list to never recommend a customer to again.

Would not recommend

Very poor experience with LPL. They are not the cheapest option either, I wish I had gone with someone else.
I am buying a new built home and I started the process back in feb 24 (it is now may 24) and it is still ongoing.
LPL only started working on my case 2 weeks after receiving the contract pack from the developer, and that is only because I chased them due to lack of updates in their portal. If I hadn’t chased them who knows when they would have begun work. The contract pack was received on the 13th of March.
Endless back and fwd regarding documents, when really I should have been told in early stages what I need to provide. This stretched for a period of 2-3 weeks, by the time I sent them something they wanted something else as well.
An advance was paid in feb (so that they can order the searches as soon as possible). Searches were only ordered on the 17th of April, more than a month after receiving the contract pack and again this is only because I asked them to do so while in the meantime I provide any additional documents they require, so that everything is ready and speed things up. Not sure what LPL were waiting for…
Communication is very poor, apart from the portal there is absolutely no way of getting an update.
Countless emails from my behalf with no response. Unable to speak over the phone with my case handler, I constantly get routed to voicemail.
No callbacks despite many voicemails left.
The only comms with them was when they needed something.
Not worth the money they are asking for, would not recommend.
I am literally paying them to cause me stress.
Exchange date was set for the 26th of April, now the developer is threatening to put the house back on the market .
Fresh approach to conveying? Haha

Lack of communication, reactive.

I engaged this firm for legal services, and unfortunately, my experience has been nothing short of disappointing. The service provided was extremely poor, characterized by a shocking lack of communication and transparency.

Throughout the process, I found myself constantly chasing updates and progress on my case. Despite numerous attempts to communicate via email, I received minimal responses and was often left in the dark regarding the status of my case. It was only after my persistent chasing that tasks were marked as done in the portal.

To make matters worse, after they received their payment, the level of communication plummeted even further. Currently, I'm attempting to obtain an update regarding my title, but despite my efforts, I've received no response.

The inefficiency and lack of communication have not only caused unnecessary delays but have also significantly hindered the entire purchase process.
If I hadn't constantly chased my solicitor for updates, the process would have taken even longer to complete.

Overall, I am deeply dissatisfied with the service provided by LPL. The lack of professionalism, communication, and efficiency is simply unacceptable. I strongly advise against using this firm for any legal services.

No Communication. No updates. Poor service.

We are 7 months into purchase/sale and coming close to completion. In the initial set up the 'new business team' forgot to send out the right forms, could not operate the system properly, were rude when speaking on the phone and could not answer questions. It was almost a month before we were even appointed a solicitor. Initial introduction call was pleasant, however since then everything has been done via email where we have to wait at least 2 weeks for any response. Constant 'out of office' replies, having to chase multiple times and the justification being that they are awaiting a response on email from another solicitor. What happened to the days where people picked up the phone and answered a question immediately? After 7 months we have proposed a completion date, which is in 9 days. This was sent out to parties by our solicitor 9 days ago, since then we have chased a response with 4 emails and 3 phone calls and not been acknowledged once. The portal still says 41% complete which it has for months and is never updated. Mortgage offer is due to expire and no sense of urgency whatsoever. The irony of the 'on hold' message saying "communication is key. We will take the stress out of your move" is ridiculous. The only way we have had any updates on the case is from being in direct contact with our buyers and vendors. Tried to call to escalate it but told there is nothing that can be done, so a public review seems to be the only way to be heard.

Phone call?

Currently using LPL and I have more faith in the estate agents managing the process to communicate in a timely fashion. Over 3 months into the process from first instructing LPL and I still haven't ever had a phone call with our solicitor despite multiple requests. House selling and purchasing is a complex process (especially for folk that do it infrequently) and therefore only corresponding through email is not an effective approach in my opinion.
