A very bad experience
This is not meant to be a revenge but a mere warning for those who might look for a solicitor and having to decide which firm to be represented by. It has been a true nightmare full of mistakes, unprofessional behavious and lack of support. I bought a flat in central London this year. The legal fee quote was 1.500 plus 750 of amministrative costs to be covered upfront but I ended up paying over 4k and the justification was that "it works this way and everything was clearly explained upfront". Furthermore there was an extra 2k added to the fee as there was an agreement reached with the vendor for me to refund a whole year of service charge upfront but I was informed on completion day for a total of 6 k of legal fees plus 750.
I have been asked to transfer my deposit of 168k from a day to the next one after weeks of me asking about it and no answers received which put me in a very difficult situation with the bank. The solicitor addressed my complain replying that "otherwise I would be fined as breaching the contract".
The assigned solicitor was Sally Louca that I never had the chance to meet not even when physically reached the firm office to sign the documents. On the contrary I met her trainee Ayse Seyer, who took completely over even with email corrispondece , with no warning, and shw was unprepared about so many things I basically had to start over again halfway. Even the agency that was selling the flat advised me halfway to consider changing the solicitor as they were really not behaving in my interests and were making everything very hard. Styrling Ackroyd themselves stated they rarely had to deal with such a low level of efficiency and very debatable advices.
At the end of the process, there are important reports missing, amongst which the pipe system and tank reports, the current year service charge was missing and hid a 450 pounds yearly increase. I also received from the council, at process finished, some fees to be covered by the previous landlord for work done years before but the firm never came back to me about those and currently having to deal with a new solicitor and the council myself. I sent over 15 emails about thise old fees and they are just not replying anymore.
At the time I also asked to have handed over the right to extende the lease from the vendor but there was no cooperation from the firm so I will now have to wait two years to extend it.
I deeply regret having bought a flat with Boulter and Co, was overall a bad experience and the worse part is that I escalated my concerns and unhappiness on their work and have been totally ignored and still ongoing. Confronting myself with different friends and colleagues who did the same with different firms I realise even more how bad it was

Ayse Seyer is amazing
We sold within a chain, she was organised, proactive, and relentless when it came to getting the job done. I knew I was in the best hands. It wasn’t a smooth journey but she made it all possible. She chased, provided solutions and ultimately got us over the line. A true star.

We were really pleased with the service of Boulter & Co…
We were really impressed with the service we received from Boulter & Co for the purchase of our house, from start to finish, Sally Louca was extremely responsive throughout the process, replying to emails almost instantly and helping us resolve all issues and queries quickly and easily. Sally Louca’s secretary,
Shereen Begum was equally as helpful and provided excellent professional service from the very beginning to the end! Both Shereen and Sally ensured that our purchase and also our remortgage was stress free; the matter went through in a smooth and timely way. They explained every step to me and I was reassured throughout the process, I understood everything as they swiftly actioned any queries.
We have already recommended Boulter & Co to several friends and will certainly be requesting their services again for any future house moves. I have dealt with many other local solicitors in the past and I must say that Boulter & Co were the most efficient, reliable and trustworthy.
I would like to thank Sally Louca and Shereen Begum from Boulter & Co once again.

Avoid Sally and Boulter & Co
An abysmal experience from start to finish with Sally and Boulter & Co.
Never once has Sally picked up the phone to speak with us. Takes multiple chasing and corrections from our side to get the job done.
Unprofessional and uncommunicative at every step.
Will not be using again.

Can't Read Basic Legal Documents
We hired Boulter and Company to do the conveyancing on a house sale and purchase. We encountered a number of problems during the sale and purchase which made us question why we used them in the first place but the big problem reared its head nearly three years after we bought our new house.
It turned out that Sally Louca who was was the lead conveyancer had read all the legal documents the wrong way round which has ruined our enjoyment of our home. We believed we owned two fences in fact we owned neither. We believed our garden was private but in fact, our neighbour has a right to come in whenever he wants to do work on his house without notice. A driveway whose upkeep we thought was shared by two neighbours is in fact shared with an entire estate of houses. Basically, we have been left with a huge mess of problems the fallout of which is still ongoing.
To make matters worse Boulter and Co did everything they could to try and get out of paying for their mistakes and dragged their heels every step of the way with our complaints. After repeated attempts at getting a positive response, we had to resort to starting court action. Eventually, after they again tried every trick in the book to avoid paying us decent compensation for their errors we finally agreed on an out-of-court settlement in our favour.
So the motto of the story is to avoid this company like the plague if you want someone who can actually read the most basic legal documents because you could end up in a similar nightmare situation.
