Jo has specialised in family matters since qualification in 2006. She focuses on children work and helping families resolve issues between themselves and/or with the Local Authority. Children matters can be very difficult and emotional. Jo prides herself on taking a personal, constructive and solution-focused approach. She provides clear, expert legal advice and support throughout her cases. Jo has extensive experience of private children matters, including complex cases with domestic abuse, mental health, and religious or gender identity issues. She undertakes urgent applications for protective orders (Non-Molestation Orders and Prohibited Steps Orders) and for the return of children who have been removed or retained without agreement. Jo regularly acts in cases concerning child arrangements, schooling, and relocation/removal from the jurisdiction. In respect of public law issues, Jo is a passionate advocate for parents who have social services involvement with their families. She provides advice, support and representation from pre-proceedings (PLO) through to care proceedings. She acts in cases where there are allegations of non-accidental injury and abuse, ensuring that parents are properly represented and fully heard in court. She also represents parents in Deprivation of Liberty and Forced Marriage cases. Jo has exceeded my expectations throughout the time we have been working together. She is extremely capable.
