I am a Solicitor in the Child Care department at Duncan Lewis Solicitors, having joined the firm, initially as a caseworker, in July 2019. I work under the supervision of director Alia Lewis with a team of solicitors, trainees and caseworkers. My team particularly specialises in assisting neurodiverse clients and ensuring that they have access to support that meets their individual needs. My role as a solicitor involves running my own caseload of private law children applications, public law outline matters and care proceedings. I regularly represent parents at court and have experience of guiding them throughout their case, with the aim of achieving the best possible outcome for the family. I have vast experience in a wide range of matters including obtaining orders for victims of domestic violence, opposing applications for adoption within care proceedings and working on cases with extremely sensitive issues such as child sexual exploitation with the ultimate aim to ensure the child’s safety. I obtained my LLB Law at Brunel University and completed a dissertation investigating the child protection system as well as modules in family law and children and the law. I obtained my LPC at the University of Law and completed a dissertation on the effect of delay within care proceedings. I also have experience working with the local authority as part of a professional placement, assisting with care proceedings matters as well as undertaking my own caseload of private law Section 7 and Section 37 reports. I have previously volunteered with Not Beyond Redemption, a charity committed to assisting mothers in prison with the aim of helping them re-establish relationships with their children.
